For me it's not his height but his reading of the ball in the air (admittedly just from these highlight packages).  Fyfe was a beast in contested marking for a mid. Average nearly 1.4 per game across his career.  Cripps is 0.6, Yeo is 0.7, Bont 0.7, even Hird was barely 1.  This kid is not as tall but appears can take a contested mark and has x factor  Very unique.

187cm is still a great size for a midfielder if that where Jason Taylor sees him playing eventually.

Would still be a massive risk though considering he hasn’t had much exposure in there this year? Jason Taylor does have a good eye for these type of players though, wanting to trade up for Butters , Bailey Humphrey etc

I may have asked in another threat, but is a Tasmanian a risk given the determination for a Tas team in the near future.   Will Gil / Dill formulate rules (on the run of course) that will compel us to give them our best Tasmanian??

I tend to agree, Leake does seem to have JT hallmarks from the outside looking in!

Rumours that Schoenmaker is a sneaky chance at a late 1st round, and there is also Jack Callinan (son of Ian Callinan) as a small forward that could also be taken.

Don't remember the last time 5 Tassie players were chosen in a single draft.  Let alone 3-4 potentials for the first round!

Taylor does have a good record. Humphrey looks a jet, Butters is a jet, and we traded up for Oliver, who has won 4 B&Fs, and is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

There will be some Tassie players that want to come home to play for Tassie, and I've seen you post this in other threads too, but I'm curious why you are more concerned about Tassie players going home than WA, or SA or players from other states?  

Don't think it's been determined yet.  However I suspect the list managers will be more concerned about the compromised draft. That being said, the AFL won't be putting anything in place to compel the other teams to give up Tasmanian players only.  It's a set of rules that will allow the tassie team to select from any players on the list (obviously there might be some untouchables)

@monoccular see above post from Chaser in another thread. It gave me a bit more confidence if we do pick a Tasmanian prospect.

Because the Tasmanian team will be building a list from scratch and they'll need 42 players, including as many talented Tasmanians as possible, so the contract offers for them, if they are any good, will be irresistible and the AFL will provide special avenues for the players to move and compensation to teams losing these players. 

WA and SA teams currently only have a limited number of list spots to fill and there's no special compensation involved, players have to move through standard trade or FA. 

There's a risk drafting Tasmanian players now, particularly for teams in our position - we will need ready-to-go replacements for our stars coming to end of their careers at the time of the Tasmanian team introduction, we won't be wanting draft pick compensation to start all over again.
