Talented youngster. Poor man's Lachie hunter. Will help Casey's percentage. Upgrade on Harmes for about the same price if possible. Yeah, go on.

I dare say we will make a last min play for him as we did with Hunter last season

Depth, why not?

This one wouldn’t surprise me at all. We were into him in his draft year, we have the Richo connection.

We need class and outside skills to compliment our midfield grunt, assuming it doesn’t cost to much in cap space or picks id be for it.

The Billings method probably will lead to less scoring opportunities in comparison to other methods.

Unlike other posters, I actually think Billings would be a good get, provided his manager is realistic with his asking pric e and St Kilda don't want anything more than a future third rounder or this year's pick 42.

Being a left-footer he holds some value and he is back-up wingman should Hunter get injured or is forced to take a few weeks away.

He also could be given a chance in our rejigged midfield - something he has always craved and never been given an opportunity to play at St Kilda. And with Oliver potentially out, we may need another clever body in there.

Billings has great endurance and is hardly slow and we all know he's clever.

The question is whether his body can cope with the buffeting that come with AFL.

As I said, if we could get him on a two-year deal at around $400K a season, at worst he's a very handy depth replacement for Jordon and Harmes and at best, he's still got the smarts to be a topliner.

One last thing on him, I think his character is fine - he ain't a [censored] and he will help redress the balance of good, healthy and smart guys on our list.

...but a greater chance of a result!

Nope, I'm with you on this mate. At his absolute best and when fit he could become one of the steals of this trade period.

I've always rated him and feel like his stalled development comes down to St Kilda's lack of ability to develope players over time.

Looks like we could be in for another last day Tim Lamb special: https://x.com/tommorris32/status/1714391553035350298?s=46&t=uC9z4AjzfWvj5kf1WQ6J6g

Shrewed recruitment by the dees if we can get him across!

The post says "early days". Really? Do they want a time extension to get a trade done.

Lamb's last day specials haven't exactly been a success. Billings is no different to Grundy and Hunter. Coming off a poor season, and is probably going to be cheap as chips for a reason.

I'd rather have some of our kids pushing for selection than Billings. Or we may as well kept Harmes.

Billings is far better then Harmes.

You then say Lamb's last day haven't been successful? Short memory.. he recruited both Schache and Hunter on the last day of trade period last year.

Maybe.

Or maybe he'd be rejuvenated at a new club?

Did anyone think Bobby Hill would reach the heights he did this year?

Peter Wright going to Essendon.. Dunkley to Brisbane.

I mean there are examples on both sides clearly but you've got to be in it to win it ey?

28, has pace and some depth on his kicks. It's a yes from me particularly if exchanged for a pick we wouldn't use anyway.

Averages close to 1 goal and 1 goal assist per game (although accuracy not good but he does take flying shots)

Billings with a 3rd/4th rounder would be a better option than a kid at pick 50 I would think

Disagree.  I'd say it was shrewd recruitment.

Haha.. definitely what I meant.

we need midfield. and sing depth so this would be a good get. Would add to out ball movement and kicking inside 50

no doubt Saints will want a second round pick.

maybe with a 3 round exchange in our favour

That's what I meant by not being successful. Hunter was ok this year but didn't really make us better. Schache. Enough said.

If Billings was 23, I'd be all in, but at 28 seems like his best is past him. And since we got McAdam, I don't think he addresses a need.

Not against this provided we don’t pay anything meaningful by way of picks and assuming St Kilda carry some of his salary.

Noting the article on Billings I posted, then bumped, earlier, these conditions and reasoning might make it OK.

108 goals from 155 games is NOT close to a goal a game average, lol.
