What? Let's state the actual facts here. Melbourne should have won both finals this year. The problem wasn't our game style. It was purely and simply execution (plus injuries to key players at the wrong time). If Brayshaw had played against Carlton & Collingwood (he played the first 5 minutes) we would have won. If Van Rooyen had played against Carlton we would have won. If Melksham & Petty weren't out we would have won both finals. If we had kicked remotely straight and had a decent amount of luck we would have won.

What exactly have Collingwood achieved so far? Didn't make the Grand Final last year and are in the Prelim this year when they don't deserve to be. We have absolutely nothing to learn from Collingwood's game style. Other sides have now worked them out. A good team but not a great one.

Total BS. Melbourne aren't a soft team. We didn't lose either game because we were soft. Poor execution, yes. Lapses in concentration at key times, yes. What an idiotic comment about social work. Ben Brown clearly has chronic injury concerms and I'm happy he's making a difference to the world if he's not playing. Have his social work activities caused his inability to get on the park? NO. We play in Alice Springs for purely financial reasons. If we are there why wouldn't we support the local community?

Your " facts" are full of clairvoyant nonsense.

They list becsuse of multiple fact...ors; the primary one was that they weren't good enough .

I agree the Pies arnt good enough either...they beat a bashed up MFC by only 7 points!!

What they did do last season was show how to attack the goal with speed ,skill and a running pattern that could provide a random player appearing free on the fat side to attack goal.

And they hold there structure and plan regardless which is why they win the  ones.

I think Brisbane has developed a more complete team and will beat GWS at the G in a couple of weeks.

Mostlt injury free pretty much like MFC in 21

If your good enough you win

Melbourne as  of now

The only bandwagon I am on now is our AFLW team. Couldn’t care less about the teams left. After the goings on of the last week the AFL can get [censored]!!!!!!!!!

Agree re AFLW but would love to see the pies get beaten. I will enjoy that if it comes to pass

GWS are going to absolutely belt the Pies and most of their supporters don't even see it coming.

Can't wait to see their "oh [censored]" faces about half way through the second.

I totally agree Melbourne weren't good enough. I wasn't making excuses for them losing. My point was it wasn't game style that beat us. Similarly, it wasn't because we were soft. Last year people said the same thing. That our attitude was wrong. That our game style was wrong. Also absolute BS. We lost finals last year because we were banged up, couldn't run games out, and didn't put the Swans & Lions away in the first halves of our finals when we dominated. It's so easy for fans & 'experts' to re-write history based on results. Last year Geelong had the softest draw of all time for a top team (gifted 4 games by playing North and the Eagles twice) & had easy Prelim & Grand Final against teams that had effectively played their Grand Finals the week before. If Geelong had lost their Qualifying Final to Collingwood who knows who would have been Premiers? The same applied for Melbourne this year. In 2021 Melbourne had all the luck, the last 2 years it's been the opposite. Attitude isn't the issue.

For the AFL it's all about the optics. Michael Christian didn't want to even cite Maynard because he felt it was a football action. He was overridden. Of course when Maynard got off the AFL didn't appeal. They got exactly what they wanted. It looks like they did the right thing by Brayshaw and are absolved from the final outcome.

Amazing what good kicking can do. Although they missed a few as well overall they have some elite kicks in Kelly, Whitfield etc.

Seems the easiest way to open the game up these days. We are terrible at it

Can't help but be super impressed with the way they go about it. Putting Port to the sword and they genuinely look like a premiership contender in my opinion.

They should absolutely dare to dream because they play a brand that is well equipped on the big stage.

I mean watching Jesse Hogan in itself makes me depressed but I'm bloody happy for him and hope he gets success.

Toby Green, Josh Kelly and Lachie Whitfield are genuine stars of the competition

They're my go to team for the finals.

+1 I jumped out of my seat when Jesse took that hanger. Very happy for the big fella

You better damn believe it.

They ride in waves and make our decision making with ball in hand look like kindergarten.

Love watching this team, come on dubs go all the way. Brisbane v GWS Grand Final would wipe away about 70% of the hurt this year.

To answer OPs question directly, I’d support the devil himself if it means the filth, their supporters, Howe and Maynard are denied a flag.

Collingwood v GWS. Eddie McGuire or Donald Trump. I'm genuinely confused who to barrack for now

Let’s take a look at the reactions following the tribunal's verdict…

Eddie Mcguire: “Justice has been done”.

Donald Trump: “Think of that: from within is worse than without.”

I'm in agreement with Donald Trump in this instance.

I was really enjoying watching the GWS vs PA game last night. Now I want GWS to knock Collingwood out of the finals series; I believe they will. However, after the GF, I’ll immediately view GWS as our primary enemy and Carlton as our 2ncondary enemy for our team. These two teams will be the main hurdles between us and the flag next year. We have a significant challenge ahead of us.

I'd suggest their game plan is actually  the problem and it has been exposed .

The defence is supreme which keeps them in the games.

There was meant to be a tweak in the early season but it went back to the habitual bash and hoof it long and high pretty quick .

Why didn't the FD put their foot down?

I haven't questioned the players effort, courage or commitment.

I rarely bet on football , or at all, but I put a portion of my meagre resources on GWS, yesterday. To beat port , $2.20, and to win flag , $13.00.

So, showing a profit and riding for free on GF.

I'm not backing them against pies. GWS will win and that will be sweet enough. So sweet. I'm dreaming of it. Might go to game.

MFC have to shutdown all this social work nonesense. Ben Brown spent most of the season hanging with children. Hes the highest paid social worker in Australia on 650k ?

Shutdown Alice Springs and all that feel good nonesense that goes with it.

I know who I’d like to shutdown right about now.

To the “everyone’s entitled to their opinion” brigade… the above Ben Brown comments, are they fair enough? How dare anyone question what BBB does with his time! Shame on you, Deebauched.

It would be so Toby Greene to kick 5 goals, win them the game and get himself suspended for the GF after 2 years of being on his best behaviour.

This.

We are destined for a Grand Final week tribunal headline, destined.

as long as it's a "football act" he should be fine

or a split second non-conscious decision

will be fun watching the tribunal and appeal board, but

Reckon it's ripe for the Lions taking. They should belt a banged up Blues and will beat Pies or Giants in GF.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
