Hunch or…

Hunch.

GC set to get another KF in draft, they are pretty stocked for forwards, out of contract next year, from Vic, most Vic club have geinuine KFs.

We have a few players retired/traded this year, Tmac and BBB probably gone by next year, fair bit of salary cap being opened, we're in premiership window. I think we can pry him out.

Would blow our window open another few years. Reminds me a lot of the Lynch situation. Would love to see it happen.

If B. King remains unsigned we will just be one of 12+ clubs who will table offers for him. Pie in the sky stuff. 🥧🌤️

What are your thoughts on Tyler Keitel for some added depth?

From the WAFL, 2023 leading goal kicker (57 goals from 18 games), age 27, 196 cm, 91 kg, ready to go. Averaged 3.2 goals/game, 5.1 marks, 13.9 disposals.

Has a booming kick on him, marks 55m out and slots them through. Looks like he can take a mark as well.

My only concern is the 27 years of age, however, he appears far far more capable than Schache while Tom McDonald and Ben Brown will 31 years of age next year. Worth a look at, at least from a rookie stand point.

Why does the 27yrs age of him concern you?

I guess it doesn't too much. It's just rare to see someone his age drafted. So I was nit-picking. Regardless, he's ready to go and if he's anything like that highlight package he looks like a beauty.

I like this idea!

Happy to at least be open to this possibility.

Even as a rookie draft pick.

There's probably a few full forwards and centre half forwards at state league level that are at least worth looking at.

Sadly, I think both Tom McDonald and Ben Brown are cooked.

The best thing to do is look at tall forwards in the state leagues that are capable of taking their chances at AFL level.

When do Brown and TMac contracts expire? Surprised Brown hasn’t called time - his body consistently fails him.  A development role alongside his AFLW role could be the sweetener to take him off the list.

'24 as does Schache

James Podsiadly 2.0? Could be handy at HF if Dees lower eyes more instead bomb it in deep. Seems to roost it regardless with or against breeze 👍

They don't grow on trees so we will need to get creative. T-mac and Brown near the end, JVR and Jefferson still kids, we need to be looking at guys like this who might help.

Why not. Pies brought in a 25 year old Mihocek and he's been great for them.

Noticed Keitel was invited to train with Freo ahead of the 2022 season. With them also in need of a decent key forward in recent times I'd be keen to know why they didn't take him on?

You do know that rumour = "a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth."..?

Can't see any harm in it. Leads hard and straight, kicks long, has shoulders.

Especially since we'll have some late picks we'll have to use after we see our late first round pick, two second round picks, and the returns for Grundy and Jordon all get squished together into one big points pie for the big trade play!

Keitel would be a great sidekick to Lukosius, giving us a multi-pronged long-kicking forward line capable of dragging defenders away from goal and opening up space for the smart medium and small types to run into.

Those who want a never ending supply of rumours and gossip might be better off becoming Home and Away fans.

Still think a phone call to Tom Fullerton (Lions) might be worth a go.  He kicked 30.22 in the VFL as a ruck/forward.  He is a big bodied ruck/forward that could relieve Maxy in the 6-7 minutes a quarter but also be capable ahead of the big sticks. Means we’d let JVR be a permanent forward and potentially cover if Petty was delayed in his return.

Had a good game against Casey, in the one game I saw him this year.

24 at start of next season and 200 cms. He might even be delisted by the Lions.

A mate of mine is a Life Member at West Perth and works on gameday, so I've watched a fair bit of them. Keitel is NOT AFL standard.

I think a lot of people are putting too much expectation on Petty his only played 1 good game as a forward he played a few stinkers down there this year that no one seems to be talking about. I don’t know if there’s any chance of getting him but I think I’d rather try get Naughton the Jamara and Lynch

Naughton good mark, can't kick.

Petty/JVR is the future.

Is a Naughton that bad of a kick for goal? He has a history kicking a lot of goals in a season.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
