The biomechanist’s evidence is going to exclude any consideration of him deliberately turning to bump

this whole thing is going to turn on his decision making and his failure to take a safer path

I have a bad feeling about this

I hope we anticipated this and have someone to provide opposing position

Presumably they are saying it's physically impossible to turn the way Maynard did.  But he did.

This seems strange. It's a known human reflex to put out your arms and hands to break your fall. It's not a reflex to rotate your hip in the direction of the player you're hitting. That Maynard didn't put out his hands indicates some level of conscious reaction. In fact Maynard even admitted he saw Brayshaw and knew he was there.

it actually could bode well for us, if he had no concious time to reposition his body, then he conciously made the decision prior to jumping off the ground that he was going to make bumping contact with the player, whom he got head high

So his unconscious decision was to turn his shoulder into Gus's head.

Should have premeditated it, and known that the collision would occur and be able to mitigate it based on duty of care requirements.

His body just flew in the air and turned its shoulder to bump by itself without any brain direction.

My biggest questions are.

1. While deliberation has continued, have they provided Maynard with a colouring book and crayons?

2. Is it a Collingwood colouring book so he only needs one crayon and doesn't get confused having to choose different colours?

Curious as to what 'research' the biomechanist is referring to.

Difficult but it can’t be excluded

The AFL needs to make some strongly-worded statement about the utter bull****t dishonesty of Maynard's replies, and hand down a more severe penalty, because of the insult to the intelligence of everyone connected with the game. Otherwise, my prediction is that intelligent people will walk away in their droves.  AFL will be reduced - thanks Braydon and Collingwood's cynical bull****t-spinning lawyers - to the irrelevant and artless nonsense of the old TV wrestling. 

Want Collingwood to be on the TV, whatever it takes?  Ok, but unless we are as stupid as they suggest (when they dish up this drivel with a straight face), we won't give a rats.  I won't be back, for one. Doesn’t that establish a pattern / intent for him? They’re trained to not do that, the fact that was his instinct speaks to a deeper inclination
