Deep down he knows we’re a chance but he’s been hurt so many times he can’t show that to this cruel and unforgiving world. His heart, damaged through years of thrashings can’t bare sharing what he really feels anymore. Because inside what he feels is a roar so loud he’s not sure he can contain it. A roar so powerful as to help inspire his team to a victory. At the 15 minute mark of the 3rd quarter look high up in the stands on the East side, for that roar will finally be unleashed and the game will be won. Now get this man a ticket!

I know what you mean. Supporting Melbourne is kind of like bondage. Deep down you know it’s going to hurt but in some sick kind of way you still love it and go back for more.

He knows we blew a golden opportunity and now will be struggling to get past Carlton let alone Brisbane.

I just hope we don't come out completely flat on Friday as a result of this. The boys have had a rough trot this week and if they manage to get their heads in the game I would be extremely impressed.

They better come out switched on…..there’s no excuses……we’ve used them all up this week.

Totally disagree at worse we are the second best team in the finals. If we find a way to straighten up we win the next three games in a canter.

That's a big if and pretty much only Fritch to kick them, smalls might get a look but I don't see any of our available tasks troubling the score board.

Weren’t you just looking for a spare ticket to this game in another thread? Why bother?

Doesn't mean I don't want to be there to support even if I believe we will lose, will be sweeter in the off chance we win.

💯

Hibbo will make sure this isn't his last game. Been a [censored] 6 days but let us get into game mode now. At least we will get a nice night for $11 frothies.

You stared straight into my soul and exposed my very being Roost. Everytime I have a little confidence and calm in this team they hurt me so I do what is human nature, I attempt to hurt them back in the form of showing no faith in them so they can prove me wrong.

I love your overt cynicism (and probably subscribe a touch to it) -any thoughts on why they don't do this EVERY year?

Last year was a retirement gift to Selwood (and a flag for Danger). Now to claw back the COVID losses.

Nice tin foil hat Clint. Whether Carlton or Melbourne win the PF in Brisbane and the GF will be sell outs. There's no extra revenue in a Carlton flag.

It's frustrating how some people are now saying we should have had Grundy in. Was a lone wolf even suggesting him as the sub.

Seriously? Who would you have had Grundy in for in the QF. As it turned out we lost a key mid in Brayshaw early and his replacement Laurie was unable to fill the breach. It would have been even worse if Grundy was the sub. And if he'd been in the 22 that would have further hindered our run - Max carried the ruck just fine.

Grundy is a consideration this week for JVR. But would have hurt more than helped last week.

The coaching staff have a huge task leading into this Friday night. Time to really shows us what they've got and the measures will include:

* having the team focus on the tasks at hand for the blues game amidst all the maynard noise

* using the attack on gus as a motivation to win

* rectifying the delivery into the fwd 50

* rectifying how the forwards present and finish

Perhaps he thinks that only a Collingwood V Carlton grand final will sell out, and that if Carlton don't make it, the ground will only be 75% full??

If we don't come firing out of the blocks then I for one will be calling for Goodwins head.

We simply cannot play this as a normal game. We cannot get behind by three goals - again.

Training this week to consist of nothing but goal kicking lol

Carlton will be lucky to get passed us and if they do Brisbane will beat them by 80 points.

Where is this attitude coming from? They beat us fair and square (both in real score, expected score and most key indicators) and have lost one game in 3 months. Why do people think they don't deserve to be here?

Nah, it's all the extra merch HQ gets a cut of etc. Media has been selling the narrative of Pies/Blues since the pre-finals bye.

That said, there's a pretty big narrative of us v Pies now too. Whoever wins Friday will beat Brisbane.

Not the worst idea. I'd add, leading patterns, decoys, and crumbling to the list as well.

So for a percentage of incremental merchandise sales the AFL is going to engineer a Carlton-Collingwood GF? OK, all I can say is it must be hard going if that's your model of reality.

Totally Agree but Goodwin does not look at history and doesnt take risks all season our forwards were the problem except when Petty and Melk applied defensive Pressure he is the problem for not fixing this also our assistant coaches incl Choco should demand fixing before its too LATE

And that's why people like you were here to remind me that this would have been a bad move.

Seeing a lot of knee-jerk and hindsight talk about how this would have been the call to make after the fact. The sensible view is yours in my opinion.

Out: JVR, Brayshaw, Laurie

In: Grundy, Spargo, Tomlinson

Despite all the players out, I still had trouble fitting everyone in.

This is a team that can beat Carlton:

FB: Hibberd May Bowey

HB: Rivers Lever Salem

C: Langdon Sparrow Hunter

HF: Chandler Gawn ANB

FF: McDonald Fritsch Petracca

Foll: Grundy Oliver Viney

Int: Spargo Smith Pickett McVee

Sub: Tomlinson

It’s good

After last night I am at the I really don’t care point. Part of me says end the pain on Friday. I can then enjoy my holiday in QLD with  my daughter and Grandchildren.

TV ratings = corporate partners (advertisers ) happy. Gots ta pay the billz.

Lest there be any doubt about what reigns supreme here (hint: based on the AFL’s cack-handed prosecution last night, it’s not player safety or game integrity), it’s money. I’m left in no doubt after hearing of Brownie’s account of a conversation overheard between some afl marketing types last week.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
