I love going to the footy but that doesn't mean it's always easy.

Same. When you have a full time job, and a family and other financial responsibilities, spending hundreds and organizing to get to the football two weeks running on a work day, is bloody hard.
I hope I feel excited in the lead up to the game. I’m sure I will. But for now it’s total media ban in this house.

Me too Jaded. I’m proud of the last half fight but feeling a bit empty like we may have lost the Grand Final last Thursday.

As much as I’d love a flag, i don’t mind it not being our year provided we win a final and get to the Prelim.

Total media blackout in this household too! Except of course the Demonland poddy!

Honestly Jaded, I love going to the footy from March to September but I do like the off season and a chance to give back to those who support my passion. It may not go down well with the people who would love footy 52 weeks a year but that's how I do it.

And yeah media blackout and a trip to Mars this week.

While watching the women this evening my 10 year old said "the women are way better at kicking goals than the men, just get them to play instead".  Yes sweetheart, yes.

Our connection is poor because our mids continually butcher the ball and they know that so they thump it long without much thought. Only Viney has made any real effort to lower the eyes and he was quiet on Thursday.

Exactly what Trac said today:
"I feel like the last three or four weeks we probably had a similar forward line and it’s worked really well so us mids need to get better at actually delivering the ball inside 50 better rather than blazing away and putting it on their heads.”

One can only hope they all look up before they kick it into the forward line. And pray the subsequent shot on goal is straight and true!

There aren’t many comments and none that I can see give any information.

Absolutely nothing in the comments that give anything away except a troll comment from some random.

He'll be fine to play Friday night imo.

No, that's rubbish. Watch the Gawn post match interview on 7. "I was a culprit, I was dumping a lot of kicks in there not to our forwards' advantage." etc.

And Trac ... so us mids need to get better at actually delivering the ball inside 50 better rather than blazing away and putting it on their heads.”

This reminds me of being at the footy last year with my friend and his 8 y.o son who said "Why are Sydney so smart kicking into the 50 and Melbourne are so dumb?"

My out of the box selection would be to play Salem in the Brayshaw role.

He's had a quiet few weeks to the point where I'd drop him if we had a suitable replacement. But we don't.

So this how I think we need to get him involved more into the game but utilising his skill set especially going inside 50.

We know on his day he can be very creative and classy but him stagnated down back simply isn't working for us and we need to somehow get him involved in the game.

Ball in hand he just sets us up well but because he's not getting enough of it it's effecting our ball movement from half back, so let's at least get him around the ball if need.

What about Chandler on the ball? He has had some monster games in the 2’s playing on ball.

The midfield didn’t have much to kick to.

There was very little movement and Collingwood got back quickly to clog up space.

Unfortunately this has been happening for a long time blazing away… not sure how  this continues to happen with, it’s either dumb decision or our game plan is flawed

He gets lost in the zone and press. He'll be a handy player, but not this year IMO.

Now watch him get selected this week. 😄

He gets so lost in the zone that his 4 games this year have been 4 wins again:

Adelaide, the best scoring team in the comp.

Brisbane, not a bad attacking team.

Richmond, with solid scoring potency.

And St Kilda, pretty good in zone defense themselves.

Our best football is when we get it out of the centre bounce through usually Oliver and tracks. That results in a far less congested forward line. Moving tracks forward we lose some of that grunt.

l would like to see Grundy come in for Roo. him and max both need to share the ruck and forward duties. We rely too heavily on max if he is having a bad day or injured from players jumping into Him then we have no real backup. Grundy forward cannot be much worse than Roo and or tomcat. Also Grundy at any throw ins in the forward line gives us a much better chance of winning the ball. Max can sit outside 50 should Carlton win it.

Our delivery in the forward line has been poor we go for volume rather than quality. We need players who can pass tonleading players. If we have three talks in the goal square on goes left on goes right and one goes straight or stays in the square preferably gawky. Each of our tall forwards should a small forward with them crumbing. Learn to work together.

I meant our zone, not theirs. He's a vital part of our press as a half forward and occasionally a half forward +1 that sags off the front of the contest goalside.

Thoughts on why he wouldn't be playing?

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
