Dominated most of that game but our forward half entries were shocking.

Why we went with 4 medium talls in JvR, T-Mac, Fritsch and Smith when we haven't done it all year and then leave a key defender out I'll never know.

Agree. Smith and McDonald should never get another game. But there again who do we replace them with. ?

It hasn't worked and continuously gets out coached in big games. Goodwin is still learning but we are being coached to put ourselves in games to win. McRae could see how they were going to win and that's exactly how they did it. We were lucky to be so close, really. We fought back when it was still open for us but we lost it early

who is sick of McRae  smily silly fool      I am going for Brisbane

Losing a final with + 32 inside 50’s.

How is that possible?

We don't have a forward line, at least not KPF's. Losing Petty and Melksham is going to be the difference.

Pleased with the fightback.

Bad kicking loses games every time

Tmac wasn't a good selection

But we can still do this

Pies looked bog ordinary when the heat is applied Cox and Mayonnaise are sniping dogs

Who's next?

Poor reactionary comments

How is that reactionary? We had 32 more inside 50s. We could not score. End of story.
It’s the same issue we’ve had all year.

Fourth rate forward line. Salem is very soft. Max, Trac and Bowza were good. Jordon should have been the sub. I despise that septic tank Cox.

Beyond frustrating, played like merde yet the game was so tantalising close. Two decent kicks for goal was all that was needed, had enough opportunities last quarter to sink a ship trice over.

Line in the MCG turf. Not doing straight sets.

Played like we were at Casey training for the first quarter and a bit.

Had we played with the intensity and aggression of the last quarter from the beginning... well perhaps it would be a different story.

Your comments about wishing players do their ACL next week was what I was referring to

My kingdom for an imposing power forward in the Tex Walker mould. This is a must this off-season. An actual forward to coach the forwards would also be a good start.

Three finals losses, all significant wins on expected score. It's wasted chances versus luck from the opposition.
should have won that by 30+

All three lost by a sub standard performance from our fwd line.

I don't want to hear about entries being poor.

Where were tge leads or pack marks?

I het Fritta being quiet. He's played two games in half a season.

Jvrs not ready yet.

Tmacs cooked.

Kozzie panicked.

Chandler  mia.

Smith ok.

It's last years finals all over again.

Ridiculous amount of inside 50s but struggle to score.

Unfortunately we're just not making the most of our opportunities with the list we have.

This will be the one we look back hard and cost ourselves big time.

What absolute rubbish! We were all over them for probably 70% of that game. They were just cleaner going inside forward 50 on three occasions in the third quarter, that was the game right there. If you cant see that spirit of that last quarter, then hand your membership back pal. A game of moments, that is all it was. They just took theirs we didn’t. Absolutely nothing to do with the coach.

Too late, why can't he prep them to have that intensity from the start?

Selection this week has been proven wrong, specially Laurie and TMac.

Why is the ABC interviewing that little Twerp Ginnivan after the game. WTF

Double the inside 50s Collingwood didn’t win that game we lost it, I hope that really burns in the players guts, if we can somehow make it to the grand final we will smoke them that I have no doubt, if we don’t Brisbane will and wouldn’t surprise me if pies lose a prelim the most overrated team that the media will pump up like there is no tomorrow, absolutely ropeable with that loss

Unfort I think you are right  instinct to turn side on and I hate the bloke (Football hate)

Frustrating thing is it's the same issues that bring us undone every time.

Brayshaw may not play again given his concussion history.

Edit: this season

That's a bit tough to say that when we do not know what has happened to Brayshaw yet don't you think ?

We lose because of dumb execution and a lot of that was from players who should know better. Player spoiling each other when they have a two on one.

Maynard better get 3 weeks.

It was bad enough losing Melksham  but we probably  would have won with Gus not going down.

Goodwin has gone from 5 - 1 in finals, and now on the brink to be 5 - 5.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
