Daniher is an absolute spanker...Why didnt he flood with 2 minutes to go....

He and some poor umpiring decisions has cost us again............

Daniher has got to go.

The Dogs have no height at all in the forward line and again Daniher was content on allowing them to have an open forward line...

TERRIBLE.

i dont think ND is to blame for that. the defensive players called for it but the forwards didnt move. it takes a few moments for the coach to get on the phone, onto the runner then out onto the ground. by then the game had restarted...i think the players shouldve done it of their own accord...

the difference...Johnno kicks a goal to put them in front he races into the backline calling everyone with him...

Silva kicks a goal to put us in front.....we leave an open forward line for them...for Johnno to do the above..

it takes leadership..unfortunately without chook..we have none in the midfield..

The dees were unlucky today. The way the game was going the dogs could have easily kicked one against the flood anyway. The dogs have a freakish ability to break down a flood. I like that the dees played man on man. Sure, it MAY have cost us 4 points, but there is no proof of this.

Good effort from the boys, just not yet good enough to walk away with a win.

ND did what he could today. Not his fault, but he will be under the pump if we are 0 and 10.

we weren't unlucky...stipud skill errors and stupid decisions by senior players cost us again

Yep, unlucky and yet another heartbreak, but I agree completely, where was the flood?

Should have left Sylvia, Yze and Neita up forward and everyone else should have gone back. We could have gotten enough drive out of Davey and Green and White to get it up forward.

I pity our defenders. They were screaming for back-up with 2 minutes to go, and yet we went one-on-one.

Sure, you want to back your players in, but not when you are 0-6 and desperately seeking a victory. We should have played ugly for 2 minutes... thats all it would have taken.

Had Jared Rivers played today, we would have won. I'm absolutely certain of that.

Goddamn injuries!!! :(

Why didn't our inspirational captain do the same thing as Jonhson - because he isn't inspirational - shame Neita shame - and while I am at it for all those Melbourne punters who think Miller is no good - have a close look at our captain - don't blame Danners - blame our on field leaders,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Posted

I disagree. i think that neitz is inspirational. we dont have any leaders in the midfield.

Miller had a very bad day. when he marked at the 50m mark and then handballed it off i got very angry. im sick of the way he cant kick and im sick of the way he goes missing.

Posted

Come on, Neita has one bad game and all of a sudden he is a rubbish leader and not inspirational?

Shame on anyone who calls themselves a Melbourne supporter, if they judge Neita on one poor performance. He has more runs on the board than our entire side put together. Go find someone else to take your frustrations out on. FFS!

Well Done Its true.

Why did holland get a game?

if you're going to blame something for losing that match...

BLAME OUR INABILITY TO WIN POSSESSION IN THE LAST 3 MINS WHEN WE WENT A POINT UP.

4 lost clearences in the last 3 mins is the reason we couldn't hang on, not lack of flooding

holland got a game to cover for the injured rivers, and in particular to play on darcy up forward...

I pity our defenders. They were screaming for back-up with 2 minutes to go, and yet we went one-on-one.

We weren't even one on one. when the ball was back in the middle, Akermanis was inside the Bulldogs forward fifty ON HIS OWN! TJ stood on the wing and watched, probably happy enough cos it may have been advantageous to him had we got the footy. But it wasn't us who needed to score again, it was the Dogs. Eventually Bell (who was on Giansiracusa) went to Aker and Giansiracusa and Johnstone got a little closer. Wasn't impressed with that at all, we should've had two or three loose defenders show initiative and flood back, not be undermanned down there.

Posted

i noticed that too deebest, im sure TJ was thinking, im on my own, if the ball spills to me we'll score again, but he shouldve been more accountable...

Posted

don't blame danners. we all know the last 3 minutes have nothing to do with the coach. it comes down to the way the players can think and take the initiative. captain belting someone doesn't help but whatever. we tried hard. on th boys

Since TJ loves to give directions so much, surely he could have screamed at one of his team-mates to go cover his man. We were doing well to man-up all game, but lost it in the crucial last few minutes. You would think we would have learnt something from last week.

This never would have happened if Rodney Eade was coaching us. That's all I'm going to say.

I'm certainly not a Daniher supporter but how anyone can blame him for the loss today is beyond me. Our best 2 defenders by a country mile out injured. Brock Mclean current leader and future captain out injured, our other focal point when Neitz is quiet, out injuerd.

Our first pick in the "super" draft trained the house down and was in contention for a round 1 spot out injured. The shining light of the season so far Petterd 2 games, 2 blinders, rising star nomination out injured.

Umpiring decisions?!?!?

People will say it's easy too make excuses but you need to be realistic.

I very rarely complain about Danners but today I blame him for the loss. Sure he did some good moves (particularly the way he used Aarton Davey and Dunn on the wing). However, the runner should have been out to flood teh backline. Not only was there no flood, he left it more open than usual. Where were the runners? So disappointed today but I do feel a win is around the corner.

Posted

And then when i was watching on tv, when johnno kicked that goal, they showed the melbourne coaches box, and danners pounded his fist on the table in frustration. It was your fault we did not flood

After the game, Brad Johnson confirmed in a radio interview that when Sylvia put Melbourne in front the Melbourne backmen were screaming for more players to come back to block up the Bulldogs forwardline, but no one came back. Johnson couldn't believe how open the forwardline was went he kicked the match winning goal.

I don't think this is Danihers fault. Perhaps the players need to take more responsibility.

I agree with you there Ash, certainly players should be more aware of what is going on around them, especially after an important goal is kicked to put a team in front

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
