  1. You sad, sad, ignorant CATTLE TRUCK!!! I am currently battling prostate cancer and will be wearing some pink on Friday night in support of ALL people who have cancer. Grow up you ignorant fool and keep your ignorant comments to yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your pitiful attempts to justify why we shouldn't be wearing pink just makes me mad The only joke is YOU not the MFC
  2. Foxtel 203 or 501 at 6 pm tonite Other times listed 06:00 pm - 08:00 pm Alternate times: 11:00 am - 01:00 pm Friday January 01 2010 04:00 am - 06:00 am Saturday January 02 2010 12:00 am - 02:00 am Monday January 04 2010 12:30 pm - 02:30 pm Go Dees in 2010
  3. 19,173 - maybe 19,174 if I go - in sick bed with bad case of tonsilitis
  4. Why do we criticise other teams for tanking yet the same people want us to tank ??? For those that are interested the last team to get a one and two priority pick was St Kilda in 2000. The year is now 2009, That is nine years to get where they are today. Carlton is the other teaam to get a priority pick - one and three. Yet Carlton still has a way to go before being a consistent team - even with three number one draft picks and Chris Judd (taken as a number 3 priority pick). As long as cats like Nick Stevens is there they will not succeed!!! Until we get rid of some ordinary footballers (ie Paul Johnson - great endeavour but just not up to the required standard) we have more pain ahead of us. Having draft picks one and two will not be a guarantee to success - winning guarantees success Look at Essemdon - not a great side and I thought only marginally in front of us at the start of the season. They have played some really good football and i believe part of that reason is because they are winning - success equals confidence equals success equals confidence equals winning and exciting football Finally the champion team of the last 58 games have no number one, two or three draft picks in their team. Lets win and continue to win
  5. Let's make that 14 quarters where we have scored less than 9 points in a quarter this year - that is 14 qtrs from a total of 51 qtrs Yet another third quarter that is total insipid Who is our mid field coach Who is our forward coach The only positive is no one can accuse us of tanking!!!!!! This is the angriest I have been about our great team for a long long time
  6. I wish I knew the answer but I don't!!!! What a disgrace thus far - four - yes four scoring shots to half time I am angry I am really angry There are so many I could point the finger at.................. The second half must be our best half of the year. Our game plan must change in the half time break otherwise no one will sponsor and follow the team we love May I cuss?????????????? Am I more frustrated or angry or what at the moment
  7. Out of left field 'solution' for our pathetic third quarters - don't go back into the rooms at half time - coz whatever is being done or said inside the rooms at half time is CLEARLY not working - maybe watching the little leaguers may embarass the team to perform And yes this is a ridiculous 'solution' - and so have our third quarters
  8. Lamenting with a fellow demon punter on Saturday morning about our insipid effort from half time last night, we got to talking about our third quarters. So far we have one third quarter for the year and that was when we out scored Adelaide (in that high scoring game) 9 to 7 - we won the quarter by two points having scored just 3 points in the two previous quarters In the last three matches we have scored a TOTAL of 15 points in third quarter and conceded 109 points. For the year we have scored 164 points in the third quarter and conceded 360 points at a percentage of 45.56. A quarter by quarter points scored analysis is as follows (and hardly surprising considering our ladder position and our the number of games won!!): 1st qtr FOR 210 AGAINST 306 PERCENTAGE 68.6% 2nd qtr FOR 270 AGAINST 352 PERCENTAGE 76.7% 3rd qtr FOR 164 AGAINST 360 PERCENTAGE 45.6% 4th qtr FOR 239 AGAINST 249 PERCENTAGE 96.0% Looking at this basic data, our first and third quarters are insipid - just what is happening pre match and at half time???? Other (useless) data includes: So far this year we have had TWELVE quarters when we have scored less than 10 points in that quarter. Only twice have we kept the opposition to less than 10 points in a quarter. So far this year we have only scored 40 points or more in a quarter twice (Richmond and Port Adelaide) and have conceded 40 points in a quarter eight times. There is still a long way to go - the backline has battled well considering how often the ball has been there. As for the midfield and forward line.......... We have won a total of 14 quarters for the year - three in the first, four in the second, one in the third and six in the last. The above are only some of the key indicators on how a team is performing and they certainly reflect where our ladder position currently is. The most urgent issue is - how can an AFL side score only 15 points in total during the third quarter over the last three weeks?????????????
  9. I saw Motlop's skills on fox last night - the man is an absolute freak - can only hope I get to see again Assume may be on Youtube???? Great team Einstein - having seen the Krakouers play, they would be in my team ahead of Chris Lewis and Shaun Burgoyne. Each to their own. Now where can I slot Les Bamblett - one of fattest blokes to ever play the game - man when he went to Footscray, those red and white stripes look immense Go Dees
  10. I have the Demon ankle tattoo - just need to add the year
  11. A big thanks to Ryan for organising today and to Barry to give his time to talk about out latest draft recruits. Thanks also to the posters for your summaries. My take was we need players who can kick the football with skill and that is the key area that Barry focused on. I will be able to get a copy of the interview but will take me a couple of days. As soon as I have it............. We will get Barry back on radio - around mid season to see how the players are progressing. Go Dees
  12. tune in at 1.40 - Barry will be on tune in at 1.40 - Barry will be on tune in at 1.40 - Barry will be on go dees
  13. Fellow Demons, I am a community radio announcer on 88.3FM (Melbourne) and run a two hour sports program from noon to 2pm each Sunday. I have been endeavouring to get Barry Pendergast on to the program for today to discuss our recruits from yesterday ( I have spoken with our Media Liason manager, Ryan Larkin) - having been trying for five days but unable to get confirmation. The show has had Jimmy Stynes on earlier this year. You can hear the show via the net on www.southernfm.com.au and follow the prompts to hear live. As soon as I can confirm that Barry will be on, I will do so - was hoping to confirm prior to now. What I can confirm is Chris Pelchem, Hawthorns recruitment manager will be on the show between 1 and 1.30. He will discuss the draft together with an emphasis on Hawthorn's recuits and Melbourne's recruits. Would have preferred to have Barry's take but Chris will be better than nothing Cheers Mordiboy
  14. Was thinking about Cousins issue and seriously believe we should go for him. Who really cares if he was on the Uncle Dougs? It is alright to talk about youth policy but you also require experience. He already has the experience to reach the top as shown with a grand final win with the Weagles only a couple of years ago and he is a brownlow medallist to boot. He will be able to show our youngsters how to train, how to prepare and more importantly how to win. It is extremely easy to knock a person when he is down - it is harder to get behind them and support them. Ben will not muck up - he wants to prove to the football world he is still a champion and he is only 30 years of age. FFS there were a [censored] load of members who thought Neita was a champion even after the game had passed him. Think of the publicity he will bring to the club - the press when he first trains and first plays will be enormous. This is a fantastic opportunity for the Melbourne Football club to get publicity - as Barnum the Circus man said - there is no such thing as bad publicity. And don't we need publicity at the minute. Sponsors will not drop off - if Cousins is 'sold' correctly, companies will jump on board - just look at what J$dd has done at Carltank. I am all for getting Cousins and believe the positives will far outweigh any negatives - and lets be serious, there will not be any other brownlow medallists/grand final winning players out there in the market. Go Benny and Go Dees for 2009
  15. Jim Stynes will be interviewed on radio 88.3 Southern FM today at approx 12.30 pm TODAY - tune in from 12.20 to make sure you do not miss out!!!! For those who cannot tune in via the radio, listen in by via the web - www.southernfm.com.au The color of our new alternative jumper will be one question asked. If you have a question, let me know Go Dees 2009
  16. At lunch today the new President Jim Stynes stated the new jumper will be RED will a demon profile. No white. No silver. With RED we will only clash with one other team (Sydney ??? or Brisbane) but he was adamant NO WHITE!!!!

  18. Well wasn't I disappointed this morning when I opened up the Age newspaper, went to the sports lift out and on the front page is a picture of an Adelaide Crows player - who cares if the Roo has retired (taking zip away from him as he was a great player). However, The Age is a Victorian newspaper and they sponsor the Melbourne Football Club - my umbrage is.... WHY WASN'T THERE A FRONT PAGE PICTURE OF NEITA And the Age is our shorts sponsor - what a great chance to have a piccie of Neita and his shorts showing The Age Why didn't Steve Harris (ex editor of the Age) ensure Neita's picture was on the front page? Lift your game Age Newspaper GO DEES
  19. Absolutely correct - last year was his first season of footy down in Tassie - started in under age and finished in teh seniors. The pre-season just gone was his first pre-season ever!!! He will only get bigger and better with another pre-season under his belt. When he initially joined the club his nickname was HUMPHREY (as in Humphrey the Bear) because he NEVER spoke. Not sure if the nickname is still used. Apparently he is the quietest recruit ever. Good Luck Humphrey - hope you have a stellar career with the Dees
  20. It is obvious that we need another strong forward (amongst other positions!!) My mail is Riewoldt is very unhappy at St Kilda. Would the Saints take Miller and another player (Frawley?, Travis?, Jamar?) in exchange for Riewoldt? Worth consideration? Another option would be to target J Brown from the Lions. Send Miller back to Queensland together with another higher profile player. One J Brown would certainly add some much needed oomph to our forward line. PS I am a Miller fan and believe he is much maligned - however he really hasn't taken that next step - as Jack Dwyer would have said - he is a good ordinary player
  21. I know Mick Collins - he told me Bobby Skliton said to him at the start of pre season one year "Mick - you have two choices - football or the grog?" Mick choose the grog......................... There was no more pre seasons after that decision.
  22. Our top three BIG forwards since 2004 have been Neitz, Robbo and Miller. And over those three years and seven rounds Miller has been on the end of a fair bit of stick from most Melbourne supporters. Most supporters stating that he cannot mark and doesn’t get the ball enough. Here are some stats that may debunk that myth. MARKS (average per game played): 2004 Miller averaged 5.5 marks per game played (ranked 3rd in the team), Robbo 5.0 (ranked 4th) and Neita 4.7 (ranked 8th) 2005 Miller 6.2 (ranked 2nd), Robbo 5.8 (ranked 4th) and Neita 3.7 (ranked 18th) 2006 Miller 5.6 (ranked 7th), Neita 5.0 (ranked 16th) and Robbo 4.6 (ranked 20th) 2007 Miller 4.7 (ranked 12th), Robbo 4.5 (ranked 13th) and Neita 2.5 (ranked 26th) With the exception of this year, Miller has been in our top 10 for average marks taken per game played with Neita only ranking in the top 10 once. DISPOSALS (average per game played): 2004 Miller averaged 11.95 disposals per game played (ranked 16th in the team), Robbo 14.23 (ranked 12th) and Neita 8.9 (ranked 25th). 2005 Miller 11.83 (ranked 18th), Robbo 11.52 (ranked 20th) and Neita 8.06 (ranked 27th). 2006 Miller 12.33 (ranked 23rd), Robbo 10.52 (ranked 27th) and Neita 9.71 (ranked 28th). 2007 Miller 12.41 (ranked 2oth), Robbo 11.5 (ranked 23rd) and Neita 5.5 (ranked 29th). So what does this all mean? I am not sure but it is food for thought. What I would say is that if punters believe Neita and Robbo have performed well over the last four years, then maybe those same punters have been a little too hard on Miller. On the surface, his stats are certainly better than those of Neita. How can you have your captain average less than 10 possessions a game??? Bring on Brock I would suggest that once Neita gets his 300 games he retires immediately (he does deserve the 300 games) - and I would make Sylvia our full forward - not quick enough for on ball but powerful enough for the forward line. GO DEMONS
  23. Why didn't our inspirational captain do the same thing as Jonhson - because he isn't inspirational - shame Neita shame - and while I am at it for all those Melbourne punters who think Miller is no good - have a close look at our captain - don't blame Danners - blame our on field leaders,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  24. 29,546 Anything under 25,000 would be a disgrace In this time of adversity, we must grow strong All Melbourne based supporters and barrackers of the Dees MUST turn up on Sunday - we need to cheer on our great team GO DEES
