Too cute Bowery.

Langdon too immobile and just looking at the ball

Blues playing out of their skins. Pretty happy to only be 2 points down, but it’s pretty annoying that we missed some gettable chances because it looks like those will be very important.

Can we come out in the second half and turn it around?

HTB not exist when Carlton get tackled?

Langdon and Salem have been horrible lately

How Jordon continuously gets a game is beyond me.

He's a worry at times but there are a few out there totally butchering it.

I don’t know how many times Hewitt has been caught and just dropped it.

Quality game. I think if we're able to get out the back Carlton are vulnerable but aside from that it's going to be about who wins the most contests.

The Carlton supporter behind me, I've just about had enough of him. He feels he has to tell out his opinion on every play. If he bags another one of our players I'll scream.

We better win just to shut him up.

Well I don't think we can play much worse and it's only a two point difference.

Feel like Carlton can’t play any better than this and we just need to make a few changes and a few less errors and we run away with this.

I’ve never seen the kind of pressure Carlton are dishing up. It’s beyond extraordinary. Playing out of their skins. They can’t possibly keep it up, and when it drops, we’re in. Well done boys, hold your cool.

I do wonder where our goals are going to come from.

Maybe Smith forward.

We’re just lucky Carlton didn’t turn inside 50’s into scores in the first quarter.

Our defence is elite. We will be OK.

There is a reason they didn't.

Out the back (and van Rooyen once he stops missing them).

Agree. I think we’ll be ok for this reason. I’m not sure that can sustain that, and we can only get better and have been running out games really well.

Improve our pressure, have more composure with the ball and take our chances and we win.

Hands down the backline is keeping us in it.
If the midfield can lift and start to get some dominance in the contest we can win.

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.
