You'd reckon Grundy will be going flat out to prove his value to the team.

His value is that if Max Gawn goes down we have an adequate replacement.

I hated King as a player.

And he changes his opinions more often than his underpants. Actually, well in excess of that number. (I'm making assumptions there.)

But I actually have some respect for him. Stay with me on this one.

He came to my son's Auskick session about 20 years ago. And he was really good with the kids. So, there's that.

Well that is something.

When you think about it, at some stage throughout the year he has said about EVERY team that they can't win the flag. That means he will be right in 94% of cases. I'm sure Fox will promote that amazing prediction % next year.

Genius!

What if Curnow bags a hatful?

Who is going to supply him with our "STELLAR" MIDS DOMINATING!

I suspect that unless Grundy performs well over the next fortnight or so (that is,  provides a contest and allows the other forwards to do their thing and doesn’t get beaten), the ultimate plan is to bring TMac back into the side after a few weeks getting match fitness for Casey.

TMac might not be what he was, but he always provides a contest, rarely gets out marked, has a good motor, is generally a reliable kick for goal and can help Gawn out with a bit of ruckwork (especially in the forward line, thus relieving Van Rooyen of it).

I don’t think we’ll see Schache wearing our colours again, nor most likely Brown (although he is contracted for next season, they’ll look to pay him out to retire).

Nobody will take Carlton for granted. They're playing very well, full of confidence and winning games.

That said, we should be confident as well. We're more experienced and have a better 22 at the moment.

I expect a tough, hard fought 20 point win

For some reasons it's the in form teams we play our best.

Back a the G and under lights with a good crowd.

Oliver back. We won't start like last week.

A positive from how we started against the blues is we still got points and % boost - whilst still getting the obvious 'feedback' (mcrae is soooo next level)- if we start like that against the blues....

We have also have a super record at the MCG this year! 10 wins and 1 loss with an average winning margin of 32 points. The G is our fortress!

They should be worried by us just as much. We play the G as good as anyone.

I just read the what they are saying at lygon st thread, and one of the quoted posts said the dees has won the last 8 games against the blues.

Is that right?

2016 was the last time we lost.

I like this record and really want it to continue.

It is. But also they've been largely slop for the last 8 years. We were good for around half of those years 😅

They're our snow bunnies

The only skiing I'll be doing is down the gate 5 steps with a Carlton fan under each foot after the game..

I sent email to Carlton earlier in week asking if there was any possibility they could show the Matildas game on the big screens pre our game.

They said...

At the same time, I sent similar message to MCG who said that whilst whatever is on the big screens is at the discretion of the home team and the AFL, that they would ensure the match is still shown around the ground on the screens that we are able to alter, as well as bars and food outlets.

So, maybe a reason to turn up the the G a bit early this week 🙂

In- Oliver, TMac

out- Petty, Harmes

TMac will offer more up forward than Grundy, and is used to taking on best defenders. If Tommy can get some match fitness in before finals, he’s the man to come in for Petts imo

nice work!  extra time and penalties could get interesting!

Give us 10mins guys. 😬

I intend to get there at 5pm to watch this match. There’s been a few times a momentous sporting match of different codes has been on in the bars etc & the atmosphere is fantastic..

Carlton receptionist must be relieved the last 7 weeks not taking calls about where to return membership to.

Grundy should make a return to the seniors , I think he has the X-factor. Smith based on past game disposals would find it hard to get a game however he should play.

Discarded ruckman?

Where did they find him? Behind the couch?

I'll take X-factor over ex-ruckman any day.

Mind you, I don't think either description is correct.

Grundy to FF. JVR to CHF. Smith to Curnow would be my play

Didn't May keep Curnow quiet in our last match against them?  Surely as their only key target he would play on him again?  Smith for Martin?

I don't think TMac is ready?  If Clarry is back, Trac can spend more time up forward with (likely) no impact to our midfield performance.  Our mids have been amazing this year. Well, nearly all.  It's going to get pretty crowded up forward once Fritta is back too.

Reckon we need Grundy back, the Blues have a couple of good rucks and Gawn shouldn't be over-cooked before the finals.

Smith as sub, he's built for it.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
