It's a Foxtel thing for laughs.

I laughed, except when Jimmy was on screen.

Goodwin did say in an earlier press conference that Petty suffered a Lisfranc which kept him out earlier in the season. Always shudder when I hear that word. Hopefully it’s not a repeat …looked similar to Fritch’s injury …

Are you certain?

I’ve only ever heard his first injury described as a mid foot sprain.

Lisfranc is 12 months. Which is the Mitch Clark injury.

We did the bare minimum against a side that hasn’t won since March and lost our centre half forward.

Feel free to enjoy it with the other happy clappers but it wasn’t a good day.

The only negative & it’s a big one is the loss of Petty. However we do have amazing depth …so lots of magnets can be spun. So I’d much rather be a “ happy clapper “ and enjoy the fact that for 3 years we will finish top 4 & we are in this season up to our necks. But wallow away …

Amazing depth = bunch of VFL players. Tomlinson, Grundy (unless rucking), Ben Brown, Joel Smith, Tom McDonald…none of them are up to it

It was either the after match report (Richmond) or the coaches interview before the North match. Like you I was quite shocked ..maybe a slip of the tongue by Goody ?

@Clintosaurus

There was more giant heads than people wanting to hold them up. 😭

Many of the folks in our bay were Tassie-based Dees fans. They didn’t seem interested in giant heads. 🤷‍♀️

Unsure what to make of that.

Straight kicking, defensive rebound, midfield dominance and determination got us back into it.

North missed some important goals that would have kept them with us.

Still bombing away, and handballing to the other under pressure.

At least we play better at the G.

Worried, that if the other out-tackle us, we fall apart.

Pleased, that if they don't continue the pressure for the 4 quarters we take them.

Glad we can play in a variety of ways, and the coaches can get the right style, for the situation from us.

You left out the player who I'd like to see replace Petty, and that is Schache.

🥱 Ridiculous comment. We don’t have a team full of A graders & the above players have filled a role & been serviceable at certain times.  As have our B grade midfielders who have covered Clarry. We are not a team of individuals we are a system driven team.

Give it a half against a good side and you’ll change your mind.

That said, not entirely convinced he isn’t the best option for next week if they really aren’t happy with Grundy

Just finished watching the game.

Should I read the first war and a bit on the gamely thread.  I imagine it was pretty raw.

North was good at the start but ran out of legs.

The giant heads are annoying and unnecessary .

also inconsiderate to anyone sitting behind them trying to watch the game . Ridiculous

Usually it's gawn who gets pulled, man handled and hung onto but gee Melksham was very stiff not to get a few frees today. I'm pretty sure nearly every contest he at least had an arm held

Looks like the cheersquad had front row seats for some of the plays of the day.  That first goal by Kozzie sublime.

Another favourite was Kozzie breaking the ankles of Ziebell, basketball style…

In the last quarter he’s was blatantly held 3-4 times. Their defence got away with murder in the last. Jake was having a laugh about with Goodwin post game.

Very ordinary 1st quarter but then the Roos played their hearts out in the 1st half and it took a lot of hard work, pressure and a bit of accuracy (Kade Chandler) and brilliance (Kozzie) to get us back in the game. Inaccuracy in the last and the loss of Petty stopped us from racking up some percentage but happy with the team win in the end. Poor Harrison Petty when is he going to get a break.!!!

Hard to say how I feel. I was disappointed to think we struggled against lowly North (considering how badly we kicked their butts earlier in the season) but I am glad that even in the face of a 33 point deficit we still found the will never to give up and fight back to take the points. A wins a win and I’ll take it, so at the end of the day, I’m happy.
Now and can only hope Freo beat lions. If not that a draw. Failing that, lions only win by one point 😏

Jack Viney what a man.  After the game when the boys were about to head off the ground he grabbed Petracca, Salem and Hunter and made them run nto the complete opposite side of the ground to give out a few high 5s to the punters over there.  Made some kids very happy indeed!

It's bloody annoying considering we are always playing at kardinia. Pies and Essendon never there either. Joke.

We should start a petition for unfairness that we’ve played there more times than any other club (Barr cats of course.)

My 18 year old daughter was happy that happened too. 😁

... although secretly I think she would have preferred Viney grabbed Rivers and Sparrow to join him!!

Nice to get the win, but gees Petts is really breaking my heart this year. How many times has he dropped out of the side this year with an injury every time he's looked like he's got going and looked damaging forward or back.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
