Nope, for top 8 it’s based on finishing order after finals exits (see earlier in the thread for excellent explanation). We’d take the 🏆 and slide our late 1st pick any day.

Thanks for the explanation demonsaw. I can be quite daft at times. But we still have to consider if we want one flag now or potentially a few in the future driven by drafting in top AFL talent. It may be worth tanking out in straight sets again if our current pick 17 looks like it could be pushed back to 18 and then slide further with FS and priority picks. Our second pick will also slide back. Another 'straight-sets' exit could land us pick 15 maybe, and potentially lead to multiple premierships if we keep our window open between 2025-2028 before Clatracca retires. #selfdeathride.

One flag now, with an excellent culture will generate future flags, regardless of draft points in this draft.

We must never even contemplate tanking. Tanking is cultural poison, wrapped up like a sweet.

The most important players are the ones that will choose to be or stay with us, perhaps for less money and or opportunity, because of our great culture. This can only be a culture of excellence and success which never contemplates less than full effort.

I recall being in Perth for the first time about 20 years ago (around the same age as a young AFL draftee), and when we asked locals of the same age bracket what there was to do around town the common response (particularly from females) was “have sex and do drugs, not much else to do here.”

It was like it was a tourism slogan, but it definitely seemed the case from a young persons point of view.

Cant imagine it has changed that much.

So Dockers are an absolute certainty in the Derby this week, if the Eagles want multiple picks. They would still get Curtin if they win however, as Roos would take Reid.

I am not sure how we could do a deal though, if Roos and Hawks threaten to take Curtin. You would need Curtin to say he will likely return home after first two years. Looks pretty hard to me.

Surely pick 2 and port first round (pick 16-17 ) gets it done

My younger brother (21 yrs of age) is over there playing WAFL footy and living a bachelor life with his best mate from the bush.

He absolutely loves it and reckons its the best move he's made. Reckons the weather is unreal and some great night spots.

I agree with him, but doubt I would have at the same age. Each to their own, but I wouldn’t be going there for the bars. And good luck finding anything open on a Sunday.
