How do we end up getting pick 4 and keeping pick 5?

All our 2nd round picks & late first rounder to GC, as they need points to match academy bids & their pick 4 would be absorbed into matching for Walter at pick 2.

Later picks give points to GC to use on NGA players.

I’d imagine a future first might also be involved.
Happy to load up!

Possibly.

It is scary to possibly give up so much for Reid, if we in fact can get him..

If North get Pick 3 for McKay, I expect they'll trade Pick 2 & 3 to West Coast for Pick 1 and steak knives (maybe Gaff after all).

Reckon they'd want 1 + WCE 2nd rounder (about 22 or 23) for 2 + 3

Our future 1st would allow GCS to bank some of this year's draft value into next year, that way they use lesser picks for matching points this year

Pick 5 and JVR to West Coast for pick 1.

As a massive JVR fan. I still think we’d consider that. But respectfully decline.

Norf will be silly to do that trade. Make WC sweat and call out Curtin. I think we should instead make a play for NOrf's 2nd pick Pick 2 for 5 and 15. is a fair trade. Norf end up getting Watson with 3, McKercher with 5, Sanders with 15 with  NGA. We can also throw in Tommo to give them KPD stock for 2024 to sweeten the deal.

We either get Curtin or Reid.

Knee injury at 2.44

Hopefully not serious

Edit: only minor but probably won't play again this season.

Bendigo Pioneers star Harley Reid is highly unlikely to play again this year, with the No. 1 pick favourite set to be placed in cotton wool after suffering a minor knee injury on the weekend.

I agree. Pick 2 is Reid anyway. North know it and won’t trade it. WC won’t trade 1 as they’ll miss Curtain. I think Reid is inevitably off to North.

I’m all for it depending on what comes with pick 1.

4&5 is a lot to give up. Harley would want to be even better than I already I think he is.

I'd do it, whether WCE would depends if they were sure Curtin would be there at 4. Then the added bonus of getting another top 10 player.  If they don't we get 2 top 5 players like Duursma, Watson, McKercher and or O'Connor. Then we pick K.Brown as a late pick 89 or a compo pick for likely departures like Jordon etc.......  then if we get more spots or trade we could go for a Liam Henry and or Georgiadas from PAdel if we lost Grundy.

How it could transpire would be we get Reid at 1, Gold Coast match their top prospect Jed Walter at 2, North go for McKercher, Hawks go for Duursma and WCE get Curtin. Only real spanner is if North go for Curtin to replace a departing McKay. If we can't get 1 then we go for plan B see above and trust in Lamb, Taylor and their crew.

North could even grab Duursma considering his late season form. Wouldn't discount Watson from being in the conversation for both North and Hawks as well.

I've said it before, JVR is worth more than pick 1. JVR is proven, Harley Reid is not.

Bundling up our natural first rounder, our two 2nd round picks for this year & our future first.

If we even considered it I would be angry.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
