Surely they could’ve waited until July actually finishes and say last 24 games in July.

What's the context for the use of the word "Dry"?

Dry July is a concept where sone people take the opportunity not to drink alcohol during the month of July and hence Dry July. Dry July here is a play on that but the wins drying up for some teams.

It came from the Useless Statistics Facebook page so you're bang on the money. Have a drink on me in August.

OK...but for every team that has wins "drying up" another team is being, er, flooded with wins. They cancel each other out, for goodness sake!

And hence it's a Dry July for only some teams. That is the point. It's raining goals in Geelong. Not so dry July for them. Please don't take this light-hearted thread so seriously.

Thanks boss.     I had thought for a minute that you were about to recommend that we all have a dry July - which came rather late as a piece of advice.   😀  Cheers 🍹

Clearly the data show that Premierships are not won in July.

Do you have a similar table for September??

There's only one day in that month that actually matters. We've won 13 but sadly only 1 in the last 57 years.

When I saw the thread title and the 'Uncle Bitter' avatar I fully expected a quip saying that 'dry...(any month) ...' is too ridiculous to contemplate and any day is a good day for a 🍷😉

They should make teams do Dry July until they get a win in July.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
