I saw the session. Kev did a great job with his write up. Based on what I saw of Clayton, if he doesn’t play in 6 days time there is something sinister going on.

Jack Viney was definitely at training and in great spirits. I watched him and Jed Adams play wrestling in front of me.

Hi La Dee flight was ok on way up as we flew into Uluṟu but luggage conveyer belts broke down in Alice and our flight home was via Adelaide where we switched aircraft and then we had delays with luggage back in Melbourne. Lol!!!

Clarry was running well and hard most of the session. 

He must have pulled up sore. He had a hint of a kind of limp, and felt for the area high on his thigh at the end of his run.

I’ll give him my hamstrings. They’ve barely been used.

Although Clarrie was running. maybe he has yet to regain full fitness - he would have lost more form his infection than the hamstring per se.

Clarry did the sprints and laps, as well as all the drills. He is also looking fit enough. 

I am guessing, he is sore after a heavier workload.

I think he has been poorly managed. They shouldn't have let him run so soon after the injury. He possibly hasn't had to deal with complex soft tissue stuff, and said to himself, "I will push through it".

Thanks for another great report Kev.  
In Richo’s injury report today, he said that Clarrie is expected to miss another 1 to 2 weeks, because of a combination of his recent scans, and him not meeting certain Club “markers” (which presumably relate to fitness).  Let’s hope it’s more about his fitness levels, and less about what the scans are saying.

I just didn't see that at the training. Clarry was moving as well as anybody out there, until the end when he had a little bit of a limp. (Pulling up sore)

Given his ability, I would have him play even if a bit unfit/underdone. He would find match fitness by being played, very quickly.

Though, if the scans are showing a "hot spot", then get him right

Or maybe we just strip Clarry'a running and footballing program back a tad so he can actually try and regain full recovery. 

Bizarre decision to let him start running 3 days after he initially did it against Port..

Think they were hell bent to get him in for KB.

That decision might be coming back to bite everyone on the thigh.

I think it is possible that the fitness professionals know more about it than we - or at least I -do.

I just listened to the Geelong game podcast and there was discussion about whether we were finished or near finished ‘loading’.  (The drift of the discussion was that we have had increased training loads in the past few week’s leading into the bye period)

Certainly not trying to ignite debate regarding merits or otherwise but I am simply curious as to whether people like yourself who attend training sessions regularly can / did pick up on increased training loads over the last few weeks.

I would have thought (guessed) that one would expect to see significant increases in effort or whatever it is that takes place on the training track when ‘loading’ is happening. Or is it more nuanced and hard to identify? Or do players do other sessions somewhere else?

I've really only been able to see the Monday review training sessions this year. Lately they have been doing an extra 30 minutes on a Monday, but that is due to the fact that they have had a 4 or 5 day break from the last game.

I would assume the "loading" is done in the gym, because the training session I've observed don't usually go longer, and the running sessions don't seem to be more extensive.

Trainings seem to be about processes and skills. Even during preseason, they were doing a lot more ball work, than other years. 

If they are pushing players, I'd imagine they would absolutely need individual programs, so as to optimise the work. Training is usually a group/team program.

With loading, they need closer analysis,with specific cardiovascular parameters, which is better suited to a gym.

The rehabbers have specific field programs they need to tick off. It is usually done with a one on one, trainer and trainee assistance. I assume if the entire squad is loading then there is not enough trainers to assist. Again, the only place where many can be monitored and do specific programs, is a gym.

If they are loading it would be happening out of sight, I reckon.
