This pathetic capitulation is now effecting our percentage and could cost us too 4. WAKE THE [censored] UP YOU WEAK DOGS

Embarrassing, insipid & lazy football when the game is there to be won, we roll over & die. No desperation, no desire, no fight.. We’re such an average football club who are content with a good showing every now & again. I don’t think we have the determination or grit to win another flag.

We lost this game when we got off the bus. Goodwin selecting Petty over Tomlinson is a joke.

We lost this game because we have kicked six goals from 49 inside 50s.

Spare me mate! Tomlinson is a C grader at best

Agree they’re making out that this is the reason we lost the game, maybe it’s because our disposal is 2nd rate & we have some very dumb footballers

Now the problem is our percentage!

Our forwards have to be some of the softest footballers, I haven't seen a forward group get done this badly in 1 on 1 contests.

They all look immune to having a crack, genuinely pathetic effort from the lot of them.

Out coached, outplayed, outworked. Imagine thinking that Smith, Van Rooyen and Gawn is a finals standard forward line, or that Spargo is a worthy sub option, or that our goal kicking is not a massive issue.

Smith had a good first half. JVR is close to useless as main key forward.

How far off is BBB? His presence is sorely missed

Credit to cats defence tonight.

Shame on our entries too.

They shut down Max and kept him to zero marks.

You know when that happens we are going to struggle.

Sadly we didn't want this with many Senior players too doing sfa in the last.

Was there for tge taking and we didn't.

Could have cemented top 4.

Petty was an absolute shocing call.

Chandler out.

Stand up Melbourne for [censored]'s sake. Geelong wanted it more, show some response.

I can't believe people are still asking this question around the bye.....

So it that the excuse next week of a 9 day break again if we loose

How many times tonight, has our forward entry been a long bomb to Kozzie v Stewart?

Same thing happened last year. Got within a few points and then they blew us away with a flurry of goals.

4 goals in 6 minutes? Game on!!! 😆

Bit late to put Petty forward, Goody. Should've happened at half time, especially given Cameron was off

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
