Demons on Track for Premiership Glory

Love this quote:

"Coach Simon Goodwin is letting this team play different styles for minutes, quarters and full matches."

The author has clearly recognised that we've been experimenting tactically this year.

Also this:

"They’re ranked third for marks inside 50s..."

Combined with being the second highest scoring team for the season, it really makes it hard to understand people who are calling the forward line a disaster.

I might start every post until say round 16 with this quote:

'Too many people get caught up in the immediacy of results, but winning a premiership is the execution of a long-term plan, rather than a reaction to a win or a loss.'

We know your thoughts, we do however have to finish top 4 to execute said plan

Sure.

That's why it is terrific we are 8-4 with an excellent percentage and a good run home, including a bunch of games at the G, not much travel and the Roos, Blues, Hawks and Swans in our last four games.

Great article. The only bit I disagree with is the following:

"More emphasis has been placed on having more numbers higher up the ground – it leaves the defence exposed if the opposition can win effective clearances and get it long, but it improves field position offensively on neutral balls."

If by this, the author means we have outnumbers at stoppages, that's not my take on how we play at all. That's Collingwood's model and it's what leaves them so vulnerable on counter, and it's what I believe we'll exploit tomorrow.

With Oliver, Petracca and Viney at stoppages, we'd win our fair share of CP and stoppages to exploit a full strength Collingwood.

Some people will find the following remarks inflammatory, but these are people that are completely caught up with groupthink or don't understand football. It's one or the other. And this is driven by the media narrative.

Weren't you the one telling us all last year to have faith in our loading program and it will set us up well come finals even though some on here actually raised concerns whether it would?

Awks...

You went into hiding fairly quick after the Brisbane final.

I’m not sure loading or not loading was our problem last year. I think we had a mix of cumulative fatigue and injuries to our best players. You can see this year the reduced minutes the big 4 spend together in the middle, the resting of Hibberd. These things mean we’ve a relatively clean bill of health atm. Now if the science says load we’d be crazy not to.
