Umpires ruined this game. Totally favouring essendon.

Personally I could give a stuff who won out of these two but my god the umpiring was lopsided and terrible …as it consistently is these days. Bombers def got the fairy take ride with the umps. I just don’t like seeing the umpires have that big of an impact.

Make that 50. 50 frees in a single game.
That’s 30 too many.

Imagine the Game Day thread if Demonland was around in 1993. In round 10 of that season Carlton 44 free kicks Melbourne 18.

Blues have no recognisable system.

And despite having stars like Curnow, McKay, Weitering, Walsh, Cripps, etc. they have little else.

I haven't seen this game tonight but they are seriously underperforming.

I fear for Vossy, don't know whether the board can hold their nerve...

need a massive clean out - ed curnow, kennedy, dow, o'brien, jack martin - none of them are good enough to be part of a decent midfield

mids don't look fit, they don't work defensively, and their disposal leaves a lot to be desired

But does it not resonate clearly of our 2017, 2018 years?

keep your powder dry or do you ditch another coach?

They are shocking decision makers and an inability to make clean handballs or kicks, will they hold their nerve or react to the outside noise cannot wait.

Other than AFL employees is there anyone who thinks the four umpires per game has improved the standard?

It’s gotten worse because now you have an umpire further away paying an incorrect free

2018 we made a PF.

2023 for Carlton is looking more like our 2019.

If I could pick one ruckman to replace Max when he goes, Draper would do pretty nicely.

Just please ask him to get rid of the mullet.

Poll for tonight.

Who would you rather be - Michael Voss or Marlion Pickett?

I’m too bent to ready now.

I was at Princess Park that game.  Must have been a brown paper bag left by the late John Elliott in the umpires room pre game. Was not one word in the papers the following day about that disgusting display of umpiring either.

Was that the game Greg Williams got 44 touches and failed to get a Brownlow vote?

I’m concerned Essendon will finish top 4 with a weak as water fixture to come home with.

Can someone allay my fears?

You really are scared of a lot of other teams.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
