KC  - thanks for all the updates.
Joel Smith seems to have come out of the blocks early but what after that?  Hopefully not another injury.
Looking forward to your usual interesting and informative summary.

I'd be prepared to replace JVR and TMac with BBB and Schache on that game (Perhaps)

no chance that JVR gets dropped. he might have given away some free kicks last night but at least he was tackling in his d50... you don't see TMac, BBB, or Schache doing that. I'd also prefer Smith over BBB and Tmac too but I'm probably in the minority there.

Pig, May, lever and disco?

Can Hibbo play as a second/third tall?

Turner can play Petty’s role from 2021-22. Hibberd then plays the role he played in 2021-22, as does Lever.

Turner needs to replace Petty

After last week effort..you would have to be joking.

That free for taking the North player's legs out that lead to a free and a goal in Q4 really drove me crazy.  The players are running to the ball which is heading to the North goal, casey player is in the lead and throws himself to the ground to get the ball, North player running from behind him trips over him, gets a free.   What is the Casey player supposed to do? Not pick up the ball?  OK, the rule might make sense when players are coming in from the side, but from the rear it is absolute BS.

That’s a free everyday of the week. It was extremely poor by the casey player, bend down and pick it up, cop the tackle and move on

6 Mitch White

5 Adam Tomlinson

4 Daniel Turner

3 Josh Schache

2 Bayley Laurie

1 Roan Steele

Honourable mentions;

Deakyn Smith

Jed Adams

Taj Woewodin

Blake Howes

James Jordon

Oliver Sestan

Adjudication;

AFL as apparently the peak body responsible for Australian Rules have ‘dropped the ball’. Umpiring standards appear to be universally going south. Those men and women in high viz yellow can’t consistently bounce the ball, reward the tackler and seem content with awarding frees for incidental contact. Whilst the rolling scrum mayhem around them passes as a ‘spectacle’. Surprisingly a player wearing Demon colours was given a free kick for a push in the back. A first for this weekend.

Broadcast;

Grateful for the TV net cast but at least ensure the camera is steady, the camera person is sober and ‘Wally’ from Manchester can find and name players correctly. The numbers help.

Surely Disco could come in and play on a fwd like Amiss next week?

He absolutely could and he reads the play really well and marks everything in site

If Tommo were given a few weeks in a row in the seniors  you might find that he went back to his early 2021 form - and that would provide us with a good solid third tall defender

Nup bring brown back in. He was pretty handy before his injury

How is that relevant now that he has returned from injury and not performing

I just don’t think you can promote a guy who is struggling to impact at VFL level

If he kicks a few goals and puts some serious pressure on the opposition backs when he hasn’t got the ball now that’s a different situation - unfortunately that isn’t happening

I will add that of all the players it was Tomlinson who really stood out. We just already know that he’s not very good. Which did leave me wondering if we actually have any depth that is AFL ready. I need to find my rose coloured glasses as it’s all going to sht without them.

Who's the head of football at the AFL? Oh, that's right. It's been vacant for 9 months.

He’s had enough chances, there’s no longer any point playing him, it’s over.

Turner is too good for VFL consistently. We should promote him this week but not play him on someone he is 17 kilos lighter than like the Suns game. Laurie is moving toward a similar position and should be given opportunity during the year. Schache deserves a game ahead of Brown. Joel Smith was good but in spurts. Jordon had a Jordon game. Howes, Jefferson, Adams  and Sestan all shows signs but need another preseason or two to see where it takes them. Not convinced that Woewodin, D Smith or Moniz Wakefield can become good AFL players.
