Our performance was that bad last week that this is the first time I have been on DL since the middle of the third quarter.

Upgraded my ga ticket and will be sitting in M4 level 1 does anyone know when the ceremony stuff starts as I'll be coming from work in South Melbourne and don't want to be late or too early

...I feel better with Lever back in defence.

Big time. He's our onfield general. Even when he's not in the best form, he's organising the troops and filling space that stifles oppositions ball movement. He usually winds up with a horse voice by the end of the match from barking orders!

From a leadership and onfield coaching perspective, he's our most important player. Our next captain IMO.

It's a shame he got injured. Hopefully it doesn't impact his form too much, as he was in All Australian form to start the year.

It sounded like Lever ended up with a horse voice just from the captain's run yesterday!

Remember to wear a fig of rosemary instead of a poppy and as you've been told by others already to wear your ancestors medals on the right breast pocket.

Thanks very much Cc

I knew the significance and traditions of the poppy but didn't know that rosemary grew wild at Gallipoli and hence to wear some. Oh the knowledge of Mfc supporters.  A cut above others.

As it damn well should be! 😂

He might tell people he wears the pants in your house. But we all know it’s you who picks which ones he wears. 😁

For anyone looking for a gameday distraction this is a nice piece on Trac:

Just read it. Trac seems like such an authentic guy. I loved how he said he over thinks everything and Clarry doesn’t think about anything at all. Hilarious.

Also guys my husband is coming tonight for the first time this season. He’s only seen us lose live twice. Lock in a win.

On the flip side, my wife, who moved to Australia in 2008 and met me in 2010, came to games religiously with me in the dark years of 2012-2014. Across 2015-2018 were really fun for her because she'd not seen many wins so seeing more wins were great even though for me it was frustrating because we still weren't THAT good. But to her, 5+ wins was great.

Our first was born in 2019 so she never came to the footy although she didn't miss much that year, and we were in lockdown in 2020 and 2021.

She came to ONE game last year... the Freo game at the MCG.

Our second was born two weeks ago so she won't be coming this year, and couldn't anyway because we've paused her membership lol

Probably for the best -- seems she's bad luck for the team.

Be there for 6:50. Honestly it’s the most beautifully poignant moment. You don’t want to miss it.

Club email suggests:

  • Seated by 6.40
  • Torches on at 6.55 when MCG lights go out
  • Ceremony from 6.55 to 7.10
  • Game starts at 7.25

Don't think you can be 'too early'.  Expect long queues at entry gates.

Twice on the weekend I heard Dermott Brereton say that for his our pre-match ceremony is more poignant than the ANZAC Day match pregame ceremony since it’s at nighttime, thus the spectacle is way more effective. I fully agree with him.

Heard it twice? Is that because he said it twice in very different ways in the one breath?

I thought your husband's name was Mr No More. At least, that's what I assumed given I seem to recall you changed your name to Jaded No More around the time you got married.

Yes and both utterances were delivered as though they’re the most profound observations ever you will hear in your entire life. Just like everything else he says.

Absolutely.  I predict i( profoundly) it will take over the round including the traditional Tuesday clash. The night time atmosphere and the imitation phone candles bring a whole new feel that elicits goose bumps during the last post. Just need the crowd to grow which I'm sure it will. I'd wager those going tonight usually pencil it in each year as a must. Have we won most of them.?The first and only one I saw was when we were leading up to the last q but got down to about only 18 players  due to injury and sone dubious rough play and the toigs stormed home.

Spot on, Luci. Gates open at 5pm and for sure there’ll already be many people there not long after that. Queues will be very long and since the gates are shut during the ceremony, it’d be a shame to be stuck outside during this time.

In particular, according to the master of profundity aka Dermie, the lap of the ‘G by the lone Light Horse Troop in complete darkness is the most poignant part.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
