Done! It can be on the day of, or the following day. Gotta abide by the rules. 👍🏽

If you can, chuck some photos of "the making of" to show all the hard work you guys do. I used to be a regular at a local footy club and understand the work that goes into just the banner but many wouldn't believe the effort it entails and I think this would give a better understanding.

In an earlier post  150 out of a possible 160 games.  talk about consistency

No one at the MFC has done that quick before  and I don't know of anyone at any other club that might have done something similar,

Have a great game on Sunday   Go DEES

Not sure if it was his first 150 or not, but I think Jimmy Stynes played about 900 games in a row.

Mrs Fritta’s 50th was held at the Coldstream FC. I was standing looking up at the honours board, framed jumpers etc. when a bloke came and stood next to me. We chatted for a bit about footy and life in general. He asked me how I knew Pauline. I told him how we became friends through the cheer squad. I asked him the same thing. He said, “our kids play footy together.” I says, “yeah? What’s your kid’s name?” He says, “Clayton.” On the outside I was like “so you’re Clarrie’s dad, cool.” But on the inside I had stopped breathing and was going into mild cardiac arrest knowing I was in the presence of the creator of greatness. My poker face clearly betrayed me coz then he said, “we’re just a regular ordinary family. Nothing special.”

So it’s no wonder Clarrie is as down to earth and humble as he is.

Incidentally, both of his parents speak clearly, so I guess that trait must skip a generation. 😂

Did you ask Clarry's old man what he thinks of Clarry as a nickname?

I did, because that’s what I call Clayton. He likes it (no surprise since he’s so agreeable) as well as “Clazz” which I think he likes best.

Happy to do this! But defs not for praise. We do it purely because we love doing it and yes, it’s hard work, especially when not many rock up, but to spend the evening with a bunch of the most one-eyed passionate Dees nuffies on earth is so much fun.

Not many of us live in or near Collingwood but it’s totes worth the trip… even on a godforsaken replacement freaking bus. 😑

A great lot of good times here with stories about such a "player in my lifetime " individual.

Parallels could be drawn, but dare i use words like natural humility, and genuine character, when i haven't even had the pleasure of meeting him.

We are very lucky.....

I predict C.Oliver will retire with

350 games for Melbourne

1 x Brownlow

3 x Premierships

8 x All Australians

6 x Best and fairests

Said so casually like his kid plays Aus Kick on Sunday at 8am.

Big Deal GIF

The part of his game last week i most admired was the fact that notwithstanding he seemed to be having trouble in the first half getting his hands on the ball, he appeared to work harder on his tackling and off the ball work-rate.  The ball seemed to come his way more so in the second half , but his work while things were not going well was excellent.

‘Tis a well-oiled machine, Azz. Well, not always, but we manage to churn out an impressive banner every week, which is more than what some clubs do. Brisbane and Geelong (just to name two) only make banners for milestone games. It helps that the MFC is extremely supportive in every way (including financially) and that we have a triumvirate of exceptional leaders. Every other cheer squad should be so lucky. ❤️💙

Well I’m old enough, and lucky enough, to have seen all of our ‘greats’ in the last seven or so decades, and I can honestly put my hand on my (❤️ & 💙) heart, and say that Clarrie is up there with the very best in my lifetime!
Outstanding achievement Clas!  You will be weighed down by medals around your neck, when the inevitable time comes, and you will have earned every one of them!  I love your ‘never say die’ attitude!  I love that you bleed ❤️ & 💙 for us, each and and every week!

@WalkingCivilWar can't wait for the sneak peek of that amazing banner 👀👀

Its hard to see it clearly from this angle. Sometimes there’s a really long ladder that I climb to take a pic but it wasn’t there on Thursday night so this will have to do…

I’ll post pics of the complete banner tomorrow 👍🏽
It doesn’t look very impressive from this position but I’m sure it’ll look fantastic from the stands.

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
