I said on here last week Carlton would beat Geelong. Thought with Stewart out it would help Curnow.

Also thought there younger players would be quickerย

No Stewart, Henry or Kolodjashnij. It's rather undermanned back there.

From Easter last year they only conceded 90+ twice. They've already conceded 90+ twice in two games this year.

Ohhhhh yup true. Henry and Kolodjashnij in at least and this is a different game.ย

And we lacked May and Salem last week and killed the ๐Ÿฉ

Carltons bottom 10 players are VFL standard.

Some good high end talent.

Geelong are looking old...without Cameron & playing a better opposition they would have been smashed.

I could happily watch Carlton be irrelevant for another 20 years Wodja.ย

Prefer to see the cats in that predicament and I hate Carlton

Sydney $1.08 at home vs Hawthorn. If you take that bet now 36hrs out I make it 1000%pa interest on your money.

Saad is like a small version of Sam Frost. Runs off half back like a hyperactive nuffy, with no idea where he's going half the time. Most times he turns the ball over and the occasional time he'll create a score by taking the game on. He's a liability for mine.

But then we had posters on here complaining that we got rid of Frost, so what would I know?

Also, why was Michael Voss crying? Calm down mate, you haven't won the flag.

Geelong were hopeless tonite. Carlton should have won by 40 to 50 points. Dreadful footy.

A fair comparison 'A F', the only difference is that Sam didn't mind body contact.

...but back to Saad, he tried hard to lose them the game.

He doesn't seem to have the best agility either. There were a few moments where Stengle showed him a clean set of heels.

When do we get worried about Carlton being half decent?ย

When they become half decent. Still playing on emotion (both positive and negative emotions). Voss hasnโ€™t taught a game style that is reliable. Plus they are extremely shaky in defence.ย

Well I hope they lose next week and go 1-1-1

When they get a game plan that actually plays to their strengths which is clearly McKay and Curnow.ย

Their ball movement is shambolic at best and idiotic at worse. I know Walsh out really hurts them because he gives them so much first use at clearances, but FMD they have some horrific ball users and decision makers.

Any team under the average age of 98 and with any sort of fitness would have run them into the ground in that last quarter.ย
They look spent 2 games in. Fair enough Geelong coming off a short pre season at their age, but what is Carltonโ€™s excuse? They didnโ€™t even play finals!ย

Their ball use looks like an electric toothbrush in a toaster at the best of times.

Stengel is a smart player. I don't think Saad was the right match up but not sure they have anyone else with leg speed in their defensive half.

On that subject Doherty looks to be struggling and Weitering had a shocker...

Another on the Cats side Tuohy is getting caught out a lot...33yo and might have gone one too many.

edit: I notice Saad had a heap of metres gained wonder how much came back with interest...

I was there tonight, and it was hard to believe Geelong won the flag. Carlton werenโ€™t much better and did their best to lose the game.

I donโ€™t mind Tuohy. He looks just like Obelix, who was a childhood hero!

ย

For such a big guy McKay certainly likes to flap the arms, Plugger would've kicked 350 goals a year if a free was paid every time he got touched.

Poor Scott. He canโ€™t blame the surface tonight.

He was asked in the presser if they're missing selwoods leadership. Dangers copping a bit of heat online

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFLโ€™s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.ย
