This and also for god's sake put some attention into Nick Daicos. 35 touches at 91% efficiency, blind Freddy can see he's dangerous.

Absolutely! He not only hits a crazy amount of targets by foot, he hits them regularly in positions that 90% of other players wouldn’t even attempt to make. When he’s on half back, if there’s anyone close to free floating around high CHF, he’ll find them, then that player turns around and has multiple leading options coming to him or there’ll be a playing running past that takes a shot from 50. All happens so fast.

Feels like a no brainer to try and take away that ability for the pies.

Subject: Disappointed with Tom MacDonald's Performance in Melbourne's Win Against the Western Bulldogs

Dear fellow footy fans,

I am writing this forum post to express my disappointment with Tom MacDonald's performance in Melbourne's recent win against the Western Bulldogs on March 18th, 2023. As a die-hard Melbourne supporter, I was ecstatic when we came out on top against one of the toughest teams in the league. However, I couldn't help but feel upset with MacDonald's lackluster form throughout the game.

Tom MacDonald is known for his prowess in the forward line, but during the game, he seemed to be struggling to find his footing. He missed several easy marks and failed to convert a few crucial goals. In fact, he only managed to score one goal in the entire game, which was far below his usual standards.

As a fan, it's frustrating to watch a player who is capable of so much more deliver such an underwhelming performance. I understand that every player has off days, but MacDonald's lack of form was particularly disappointing given the significance of the game. Melbourne had a chance to cement their position as one of the top teams in the league, and MacDonald's inability to perform at his best may have cost us the opportunity to do so.

Of course, I don't mean to undermine the efforts of the rest of the team, who played exceptionally well throughout the game. The likes of Gawn, Oliver, and Petracca delivered some impressive performances, which ultimately helped us secure the win. However, as a supporter, I can't help but feel upset at MacDonald's form, especially considering his potential to be a game-changer.

In conclusion, while I am thrilled with Melbourne's win against the Western Bulldogs, I can't help but feel disappointed with Tom MacDonald's performance. I hope that he can bounce back in the next game and deliver the type of form that we know he is capable of.

Thanks for reading,

I smell a rat.  Chat GPT does not have access to real time info.  Isn't the cut off date  Sept 2021?

I’m really struggling with something from the game. The stats show we had 1 bounce for the entire match, for the life of me I can’t remember which player had our only bounce.

This could be a post-game quiz. You’re not allowed to watch the replay to get the answer.

Charlie Spargo took a bounce before he kicked that long goal.!!

You can't let them run it out of their defence.

Agree...Was amazed how often the Dogs did the dump kick out of defence. It was like 2022 first ten rounds again.

Made it comparatively easy for Tomlinson and Lever to defend

Wonder what tactics Brisbane will adopt

The AFL members stand was almost empty as neither mfc nor bulldogs have many AFL members.  That stand is always nearly empty at our Home games vs smaller clubs and i/state clubs.  When it is fuller at our games it is opp fans.

After years of waiting ... .... ..... ..... I was lucky enough to get my MCC membership. Kept it for two years - then left.  Why? Every game I attended in the Members' Stand was almost devoid of MFC fans/members; instead, the place was packed with opposition supporters (and none were recognisable in the intervening cricket season - they just did not have an interest in cricket). I guess the AFL members stand has the same indifference built into its status projections.

That was an issue last season but not in the pre season JVR came back very fit training in WA over the break. I don't think it applies to Goody now and I certainly have not heard that pre season after 4/5 mths of training.

I heard Goodwin that comment in his 2023 season preview video but unfortunately I can't find it at the moment

Anyone not running a tag on Nick and Pendles, who they have sitting as a QB off the back of the square distributing the ball at will through the middle, are doomed to fail.

Also the vision off the Sunday footy show was very telling.  Between the arcs all players sit off the fat side of their opponent on both sides of the field.  Looking to either force their opponents out wide if they don't win the 50/50s or if they win it they run it on 45s through the middle in numbers.

Im not sure what strat you would use to combat that but surely all teams are well aware of this plus the Pendles QB set up (from the back of square and pushing through the middle) by now!??

I know teams really want to back their system and not sacrifice but these numbers are super damaging. I look to the two games that Sydney paid close attention to Daicos last year it paid off big. Even in the practice game against Hawthorn it was used to good effect.

I'll have to have a look at that Sunday Footy Show stuff, didn't catch it this week.

Def worth a look layzie... although i fast forward pretty much everything else aside from Demon related.  Too much chompers nonsense.

Some of the match day analysis is actually quite good though when they aren't fooling around.

Anyone else pinch themselves when brodie grundy does brodie grundy things?  Opposition teams  have no chance frankly if these ruckmen are fit.   How good.

On top of his rucking abilities and his new found forward prowess this is a another huge benefit of having Brodie Grundy in the team.

^^^^^^

Just as aside to the above clip. How the hell was the kick from Kozzy to Spargo not 15m and called play on when all night the Bulldogs were chipping the ball 5 to 7 meters and it was paid a mark.

I think we all noticed that element of umpiring - silent assistance - across the whole game. I think most Dees' fans are now desensitized to this happening so often as other issues of umpire performance become more pressing.

You are dead right mate. He is an upgrade on Hunty (no disrespect to him) I hadn’t thought of that.

Yes if Judd can be that clean and be at pace with the game, on debut he will be a solid member of the team.
Very impressive

His disposal is first class shortish or longish very quick. Jayden ran with the ball differently looking to bounce at least once and often hold the ball up not getting it on to a teammate.
