Nah not Sestan, think we’ve established it’s Cooper Simpson.

Sestan had tape on a knee but didn’t seem too restricted. Got a nice bake from Choc at one stage for getting too easily pushed aside by Grundy in a handball drill.

Had a nice passage of play where he marked at half forward, held it up, took the man on the mark on and kicked long right to a leading forward. There’s some class to what he does but he doesn’t get up and back like most of our players. He clearly hasn’t had training in that elite style of football. I don’t think we’ll know until the VFL games start if he’s getting 5 touches a game or 12+ and making an impact. And we won’t know if he can make a two way impact maybe until next year!

Jesus, no leeway from choco considering the kid is up against a 2 time All Australian 203😳cm 100kg ruckman

In the manner of @Demonstone's demonstrative quizzes here is one for the trackwatchers:

What in the Hell are these markings on the ground?

They are placed just outside the goal square and are permanently marked.  They run diagonally toward one wing only and are

enclosed within a box.  There are also two diagonal lines on both sides from mid goal-square to the 50m line.  Same at the other end of the ground.

They weren't used as part of the "snapping" exercise run by Choco before the main session, so what are they?

Like he's a part of the furniture. Fits in well. Can take a good grab in a pack or intercepting. Reads the play well. Has clean disposal. Will also benefit from another pre-season in the gym in an elite program (if he gets a gig on our list).

And Burgoyne?

Unfortunately we are not the only sporting code/team that trains on Goschs.

If he makes the list will add him to the posse of up and coming young gunslingers [sic] Judd McVee

My suspicion on Monday was groin related based on the type of rehabilitation exercises.

My theory after seeing The Fabelmans which is based on the early life of Steven Spielberg is that the markings are designed as a message to the aliens who are trying to find E.T. and get him back home. This is based on the fact that the movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released in 1982 and his planet is reputed to be a shade over 20 light years away. Of course, Chocco Williams might have a different explanation.

Does he look like he's ready to sign a contract?

He is running around with a pen velcroed to his shorts.

Pheww huge thanks to Demonland, Slartibartfast, DeeSpencer and all posters love the training reports and inputs, always interesting when a couple of high skilled unknowns roll up and cause a bit of confusion as well. Be nice to pick up one of those two in the Draft.!!!

Neither looked out of place in the squad. That is, they weren't raw recruits fumbling, nervous and making mistakes.

That's good if it's Port's recruiters chasing.

Anyone care to suggest what name a fourth child might have been given by the Duursma parents, given the alphabetical progression from Xavier to Yasmin and then Zane?

Elon might have some ideas.

Can someone tell me where training is on Friday.?

Nothing listed on the official site but there is a good chance it is out at Casey. The club has recently put a warning on the Training Times page that Casey sessions are closed.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
