Looked like they had a captain's run there, before the Brissy game. Interesting they're not doing it at Port Melbourne ground like last year? 2 Quote

When I looked on google maps, it appeared that the oval was being refurbished. Perhaps it has a beautiful surface, and a great gym, now. Any DL's are Old Xaviens, attend or have teenagers there? 2 Quote

Demonstone 23,587 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 One of the grounds I played on in junior footy was literally a paddock with goal posts at each end. We had to shoo the sheep off the ground before we could start the game, but evidence of their existence was obvious wherever you looked. The coach didn't need to remind us to keep our feet when we played there. 3 6 Quote

djr 1,605 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 The Old Xavs are playing there this season as Toorak Park is out of action. 1 Quote

They were re-doing the Chapel Oval surface at the start of the year last time I saw. 1 1 Quote

Problem with Eltham was whenever there was heavy rain all the surrounding septic contents would run down the hill and settle on the oval....all the stud stopmark scratches would blow up with infection by mid week.....noice 1 2 1 1 Quote

The surface itself is great and the school has a passion for football. Change room area under the grandstand there is small. Not a bad facility to train at but in terms of the best in the APS I would have gone Scotch or Caulfield Grammar (Wheelers Hill) 1 1 Quote

There are those that can attend, but because it is posted as closed training, the club is not encouraging any spectators at trainings. Again, I think they could and should do better. I know it had been asked before and had been answered somewhere but…… sorry to be a pain, where can one access training locations, dates / times on the web? 1 Quote

Gawndy the Great 9,011 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Surprised that Beaumaris Secondary School's deck isnt considered. The MCC have some sort of arrangement with the school and government to have facilities out there. Was there a few months back doing a school tour for my son - i recall it had been really wet and soggy for a number of days and the surface was pristine. Reminded me of the G during GF day. 6 Quote

The coach didn't need to remind us to keep our feet when we played there. Wet grass and copious duck droppings produced the slipperiest surface I've ever played any sport on. Made particularly hilarious by it being lunch time inter-departmental competitions between public servants within sight of OPH. The surfaces all looked absolutely flawless; lush, neatly trimmed and tree-lined. But they were definitely maintained as ornamental lawns, not playing fields. Duckcrap smears all ranks alike. 4 Quote

My guess for training is: Monday review run, 11.00 or 11.30 am, either Casey or Xavier. (Possibly Tuesday) Day before game, a captain's run at Xavier, 9.30 am. The main training out at Casey at 9.30 am, Wednesday or Thursday. Edited July 17, 2023 by kev martin 2 2 Quote

As I recall the Beaumaris oval was designated to be exactly MCG dimensions. Some association with MCC / Vic cricket. I would love them to train there - nice and close to home. 1 Quote
Kev 10,926 Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 (edited) Saw some tele-vision (ch7), of Collingwood being back on the Glasshouse oval, and not on the Gosch. Edited July 21, 2023 by kev martin 1 Quote
Freddy Fuschia 773 Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Is anyone surprised that since we were chucked off Gosch’s Paddock, we’ve not lost a game? 2 2 Quote
Kev 10,926 Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 I believe the last FiFA game at AAMI is tomorrow. Could be a a chance that the MFC teams are back into AAMI and on Gosch's soon. Maybe a captain's run on Saturday morning! 2 2 Quote
