Freo caught us on a bad day. everything went right for them, and we were rubbish. Days like that can happen during the season. They are trending downwards and we're pushing top 2 so I suggest we all move on from that defeat.

We are Melbourne supporters, BDA - If that is your real name - bloodletting and hand wringing is our love language.

However it does hurt to think that if we got the job done against Freo (and GC should've also), they would be truly trending bottom 4.

Now it's hard to think they will fall more than the 12-13th position on the ladder.

15th looks likely to me…

Do folks really think we are any chance to trade up for Reid? I don’t, and I also don’t think that should necessarily be the goal. One player has never been our strategy.

If we had lots of “needs” in our team …I’d agree. But we don’t…so I’d absolutely go for him

We do like to wallow.

it might help people overcome the close/unlucky losses if they also acknowledged the close/lucky wins. The suns should have beaten us so for me the freo game balanced the ledger.

Port and pies have been more consistent so far this season. They deserve to be top 2. We’re leading the chasing pack which, on balance is exactly where we deserve to be.

In terms of picks there isn’t that much difference between 5-10 which is the range we’ll end up with. JT will do his thing and find a quality player for us.

What a mundane summary of our season do far.

Suns were never in front and we had 5 more scoring shots. Plus the JVR fiasco stopped a good run at the start of the quarter which helped Suns get back in the game.

In the Freo game yes they played better footy but we kicked the game away in front of goal.

Also I suppose you thought we were lucky on Monday?  Well Pies  and Power have been best to date but are they going to be able to  maintain the rage?

Monday proved ( like in 2021) our footy often improves vs the top sides and now that May Lever Salo Fritta and Gawny have hit consistent form like in 2021 we are a much better defensive group and tighter as a unit all over the ground.

We are categorically better than a 5 - 10 position and are up to our eyeballs in this flag race.

You’ve figured out how to use spell checker which is great cos now your posts are legible.

Now you just need to read others posts properly. Read what I wrote and have another go at responding.

I was simply providing a different opinion on your post reflecting on close finishes and predicting a 5 -10 finish as what we are worth.

Completely different view with a half glass empty and yours not even half full.

Cheers for now!

I didn't predict a 5-10 finish.

Not related but I saw maintain the rage and could only think of an episode of Rage that goes for a really long period of time.

"Gee Rage is going a while tonight. Oh good, they're into the top 20,000!"

Next week

Sydney vs Eagles

Suns vs Hawks

Freo vs Essendon

This will make a lot of people feel dirty but we want an Essendon win to put freo back down to 14th. Blues have a bye and then face the Hawks. If they get up there and Freo also drop their following game against the dogs then we're back looking at a top 4 pick.

Freo vs Carlton is a huge 8 point game and Freo's remaining games are against the Pies, Swans, Cats, Lions, Eagles, Port and Hawks.

Eagles the only gimme game there.

Asking for a friend.

Tell your friend no one would ever be banned from BDSM, especially if they’re suffering with MFCS&M 😁 which is pretty much everyone on DL. Amirite!

As we are today but let’s not forget that it’s not a level playing field as some teams have played 13 games and others 14.

Hopefully the Giants (and Tigers) keep improving to weaken GWS' draft hand...

Would put us in the front running for Reid...should we elect to go that way

I did once coz DL (collectively) told me to. 😆

At one point I caught myself muttering under my breath “come on Jake” (Stringer) and forgot all that’s good in the world. I knew I was mere minutes away from “come on Jakey” so I stopped barracking for them and it turned out we won the flag regardless. 😃

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
