Interesting watching the Casey today. Who plays well, who struggles, who is AFL standard, who is not etc...

You would think Turner, JVR , Bedford and Chandler look AFL standard and ready to go. Also interesting to keep my eye on Woewodin who looked very composed at times but probably a year away from being ready. Weideman, too, looks too good at times, but again, even when it was dry, he dropped marks that hit his hands clean. Disappointing. But his ruck work was really good against

White, Chandler, Dunstan, Melksham and Munro were outstanding today.

Extraordinary bro love and hugs for Weideman.

Do the players think he is leaving?

Would love to be able to use him in the seniors in a new role.

Maybe, although maybe they just appreciate his match winning effort against Crossley in the wet.

Shame jay Lockhart was playing for the sharks. Thought he was good enough to be on an AFL list.

Good for Casey, but for the sake of Melbourne we can’t carry so many experienced fringe players and VFL players chewing up important minutes.

Casey’s first priority is to develop afl players and that needs to be reinforced next year.

This team is full of AFL listed young players. The only player who wasn’t there today was Rosman and he’s concussed.
I just don’t understand what you mean by carrying so many experienced fringe players. That’s not a Casey decision that’s a Melbourne decision. Of course Casey will play M Brown and Melksham if they’re available.

Classy words by the losing Captain.

Mitch White claims BOG honours!

Two kids giving out a cap and a medal but only one footy to give back 😟

Never said it was Casey’s decision. Carrying Brown, Baker and others on the list was a waste of list spots. And Munro, White, Dunstan and Grey playing most of the midfield minutes is someone’s decision.

Its hard work watching Melbourne young players stuck in peripheral roles.

They finally gave Weid a job of holding the number 1 ruck spot and he has developed more in 4 weeks than in the last 4 years.

I’m sure they’ll sort it out.

I'm sure they will but I wouldn't want to be the sad kid that walks off the podium without one...

They really deserved the flag this year. This team has been a joy to watch.

They never give up and really work well together.

We've got some good ones in there.

A good coach too by the looks.

If you are the owner of a 2019 MFC members scarf and left it in the Legends Stand on the flank on a seat near the aisle, don't forget it!

I think Corey Ellison might get a gig at AFL next year.  Very solid defender who also went very well up forward when needed during the season.

Casey went 20-1 for the year, with an average winning margin of 42 points... what a season...

Tried out performing Melbourne 2021

Having the best seconds team bodes well for the seniors over the next 3 years at least. Nice

Last year's draftees and Laurie (who was injured most of his first year) look like they have put on quite a bit of bulk this year.

I would be very surprised if most of them don't get a go next year.

We just have to trade out a few of the incumbants.

Brown and Dunstan are direct replacements for our afl players.  younger players arn't going to come into the AFL side and if they do they arn't going to play in the midfield.

Great team vibe at the end there. All the senior players so pumped for boys

And as a milkshake said - it was a long week to not be drinking. He has earnt one tonight

Jesus christ..... 🤦‍♂️

They've just won a flag.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
