North won't be happy about this...he was pretty much in the bag.

Now could be a good time to produce some Paperwork from 2012 Essendrug, clear the decks…..

Still the same cheating organization in my view…

wallow in mediocrity you bastards

Essendon would be a better job for Adam Yze as well. Let's see how fast the Roos and Giants move now.

Still moving Rutten on with only one game to go is a bit poor.

Rutten probably lucky if he's not coaching next week. Richmond will mangle them.

Essendon will give it their all. Could be an upset.

Seems the North announcement of Clarko will be later this week. Hope he stays solid.

NNNOOOOOOO!!!! NO WAY IN HELL!!!

It’s bad enough that he’s leaving us, but surely not to go to that 💩 club!

I’ll start a petition! I’ll march on Parliament! I’ll chain myself to whatever protesters chain themselves to.

This can NEVER happen!

Forget the cash strapped Roos.
Clarko will follow the money and go to Essendon.

Oh god clarko will make Essendon good. Please don't go there.

Gee a bit harsh on Rutten. Keep him there so they keep losing. But seriously it was a terrible loss but I wonder if Clarkson wasn't available they'd have sacked Rutten.

No he won't.
Not gonna hit the draft jackpot again like he did at the Dawks.

If North don’t land him what’s left for the club?

Yeah Clarko's haul of 4 flags is obviously impressive but he did hit the jackpot with Buddy, Roughhead and Lewis in the one draft - not sure you could say Bombers or Kangas are in the same position.

I agree WCW But the Giants are doomed to fail. I would bet that the Drugcheats have already spoken to Clarko about the job anyway. You don't sack someone with only one game to play.

Trade JHF for Port’s pick 8 and another first rounder. Then this years draft picks.

Having said that, not sure how Port would obtain another 1st round pick and how much would Eagles have to lose by to drop below North on the ladder?

Gee Essendon don't have much patience. First they get rid of Hird then sack Worsfold and now Rutten. How about giving a coach some time to build a list.

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
