I thought this was all BS, obviously this rumour has legs would be tied up in the Tomlinson trade if it were to happen.

"Lachie Hunter....sort of trying to get to Melbourne, looking more unlikely than likely at this point...with that being said there's still a lot that can happen in the next day and a half" - Tom 'Tom Brown' Brown

Edited by adonski

Not sure we can afford him without Tommo going out.  And we need to keep him with Weid going to the Druggies

I understand Lachie Hunter has had a few personal issues?

Hopefully he is over them and is doing better.

I guess if he is keen to come to the Melbourne Demons he may as well nominate us then?

I really hope we aren’t interested in Hunter, to me he is Spargo without the tackling pressure. A big no. I’d rather give Woey a chance in the seniors on the wing than Hunter. Also with ducking for high free kicks being stopped his possessions will halve. Strong no from me.

Here we go again....comparing players to Spargo... the Messiah. FMD🤮

I reckon Hunter isnt a bad option. These types of players are not long term options. they are come in and see if you can impact and help us win a flag. Might be 2 years.. might work, might not but its worth a try when we have lost some depth players (although all of them not good enough to make it IMO) its not bad to get a hardened body to have in the mix.

From a poster on Bigfooty, no idea if the poster is reliable

" Hunter will be a Demon by the end of the day. Turned down the Saints and there is no contract extension, as he is contracted for 2 more years.

Best asset is is hard running. His VO2max score at age 18 was the best I have seen in a non-alpinist. Basically his ability to get oxygen from the air into his muscles is elite.

I am not sure If you guys are getting Schache yet…. Will let you know IF I can."

Hunter today, Naughton next year or is he already a Dee? 😉

I have always wanted a player with an elite ability to get oxygen into their muscles.

Could he be our Issac Smith?

Thanks Sam.

Don't get too excited just yet Redleg, Lamb said the exact same thing about Weideman.

Will be handy during the third quarter on Mount Kosciusko.

I was comparing him to Spargo because I think they are similar and don’t think we can carry too many of that type of player. Both Spargo and Hunter are short players with good kicking and footy smarts, they are hard working runners that don’t look overly quick but cover a lot of ground, neither have x-factor or contested marking ability (with the exception of Spargos MOTY candidate). Spargo appears better at tackling and pressure than Hunter. The comparison was not favourable, certainly not calling him the messiah, in fact I was saying we should NOT take Hunter because he’s similar to Spargo. If anything that’s negative.

Hunter is miles ahead of Spargo as a pure footballer.

Back in the day, my ability to get nicotine from a durry into my lungs was elite.

He is experienced and a good player.. cant see the negatives to be honest.

I'm starting to come round on the idea, we should be on the lookout for quality players and Lachie Hunter does fit into that category.

What a good tweet, if there was a Brownlow medal for media tweeters Ralphy would have to be up there.

Is the club looking at him as a hunt replacement? Surely they know hunter is not in the same stratosphere pace wise as hunty?

Seems highly unlikely the deal will happen anyway.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
