And Grundy is a valuable player.

Or are you saying GWS wouldn't do that deal?

I think GWS want to keep that pick. If they split the draft over 2 nights the bidding for 19 can become a frenzy if players "slide". It's worth a lot more than 20.

If a team asks for a top 25 pick and we get pick 27 there’s no way in hell we should suddenly offer 19!

Once they have Tom Mitchell lined up they’ll do the deal for 27

I hope we get it done for 27, but personally I think it's going to take a little more than that. We wait and see I guess.

Come on, Collingwood. All you need to do, is bend over.

And take it.

Like a band aid, it will all be over soon.

27 and we throw in 52 and they get Frampton and deal done.

Weren't you in disbelief about supporters thinking a second-rounder is what the trade should be?

Yes. My opinion was somewhere around pick 15-20 would be the price. Hence why I'd love it if we ended up getting him for 27.

I'd be so stoked if it is only 27. So much that I'll get a guernsey with 27 - Grundy like that moron in Perth with the 6 - Jackson.

Well you're about to look silllllly.

First rounder was never going to happen.

It made no sense.

Ah well. We all look silly on here every now and then, even you.

Pick 21 which some were saying we might get from GWS in return for Bedford and pick 27 is going to the Lions.

So unless we use part of the Jackson trade... 27 is all there is

He was that good, then he got injuries, they had a cheaper alternative and now they’re moving on. We tried to do the same to Tom McDonald after 2020, we’re trying to do it with Tomlinson, that’s footy.

The Treloar situation was a bit different because they asked him to be back ended, then slandered him in the press when they wanted him offloaded.

Definitely. Treloar was back ended. The Grundy contract means Collingwood get rear ended🤣

No it won't. There will be yearly surgery for the next 5 years to the tune of 1.5 mil.

Well, yeah. That is true.

And I'm loving every minute of it!

Also says that his salary decreases over the last 2 years of the deal, I wonder if we're getting him to average it out a bit and it'll end up being around $600k per year (after the Pies chip in $300k). That'll be a huge get for us, I think he jumps into our top 10 players and will allow Max to play for another year or 2. A pick in the 20s would be justified here.

It's pretty decent of us to give him a Premiership along the way in his sunset years of footy, don't you think? That offering must mean more to a committed footballer than mere salary alone; anyway, he's made his money, he is not an [censored] and we must presume (although it's none of our business) that he has invested wisely whilst milking the Colliwobbling Filth all these years.

Reading this thread whilst my young kids play in the background.

I just heard one say "I'll trade you $1 for $8" to which the other agreed!

Simple.

Pick 27 for Grundy - get it done Dees.

New coach that doesn't rate him, and took them from a bottom 4 to a top 4 team. McRae knows what he's doing.

Weird that Sidebottom was cut out as well yet finished top 5 in the BnF then...

Even weirder that it's done by vote, not decided by the coach.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
