Could we be bold and make a play for Logan McDonald who has just been dropped for a GF?

Another WA boy,  but might be a vulnerable time to strike??

I think that's because he's mates with Kossie. Would make a dynamic duo with him.

So are you saying the Dees should relocate to Frankston for a similar advantage???

Try Mornington

Mornington is way more expensive than Frankston

20 years old, re-signed a few months back, dropped for one game (albeit a Grand Final)... Not gonna happen.

My niece was at a pub in Hawthorn last week and several footballers walked in - she's a mad Pies' fan, but recognised Clarry, Bowey, Ginny, Bianco, Brown and a few others. Just having a few quiet ones...

Having Jack Bowes and Jake Bowey in our 22 will be a fun tongue-twister for @binman on the @Demonland podcast! Maybe we could even ask for David Swallow to be thrown in?

He'll probably end up living in Glen Waverley, or is that Mount Waverley?

Henry would be worth a try, if he came cheap. Also might help Kozzie stay (good mates)

Including Henry?

Henry JVR Spargo

Fritsch Max Kozzy

That forward half with the addition of ANB, Chandler and/or Ben Brown is getting more dangerous.

Long Island is a great hidden spot.

How about Mornington Peninsula vs Geelong & Bellarine Peninsula!

I'm still thinking you get a slightly larger home maybe even suburb in Moggs Creek (or 30 mins from Geelong) vs what you get in Melbourne for the same money!

Cats definitely have a salary cap advantage, and I'm standing behind my convictions!!

Logan McDonald or Hayden McLean - either be great, and fills a need

He got dropped because he didn’t touch it for a half and hasn’t looked any good apart from when he played on Tomlinson and Lever.

The Swans are developing him slowly and he’ll be ok, but he’s not really the answer. Reckon he might come in to the 22 still as well. Not sure Reid’s across the line either

Or Larkey at North if Clarkson can't disentangle himself from the Hawks racism report. Will throw North back into chaos which we should try to take advantage of (i know. I'm a horrible person)

I blame the game plan not Jordan. I observe players across the team doing the same thing, so it must be coaches instructions. I thought that was the central problem in our loss to the swans in the finals.

I agree.

Eddie Langdon’s bounce totals took a massive dive this year, he clearly wasn’t running it nearly as much either.

Theres 2 big factors:
1. No bounce off half back. The winger should get the ball via hands or in so much space they have to take it on.

2. No Tom McDonald at chf hitting up.

Not to say that JJ doesn’t have to improve. You can’t be as risk adverse as he was this year. But he was a product of a slow system.

JJ’s run and link by hand was very strong in 2021. He’d often be involved multiple times in the same chain.

Tomlinson did a medical at the Bulldogs according to Mark Stevens.

With salary dumping all the rage at the moment, it will be interesting to see how this plays out if he does move. Do we pay the dogs with a later pick to take his full salary on? Is it that much of a burden that we would give up draft capital? Or do we pay 100-200k of his contract and get a token 3rd or 4th round pick? Or given the dearth of Key Defenders on the market and that he's contracted, do we drive a hard bargain and try and extract a 2nd round pick from the dogs?

Our key defender depth will be whittled down to Turner and Joel Smith in the absence of any replacements which has me concerned.

Great fit for the Doggies. Fingers crossed this happens for all involved.

1. Demons get salary cap space and no doubt an extra third round pick.

2. Bulldogs get a KPD that they desperately need.

3. Tomlinson gets a chance to be best 22 in a team who will challenge.

Perhaps bulldogs pick 37. Lobb will most likely require their 2nd round pick, 29, and their next one is a pick in the 60s. Futures obviously an option as well.

I still don’t see how Tomlinson has any positive trade value. He was that bad this year and even his Casey play looked so limited (output was good but it didn’t look good) that I think it will cost a pick to move him.

Just thinking out loud here but does a Tomlinson for Josh Bruce straight swap make sense?

We don’t need Tomlinson. Dogs don’t need Bruce. Neither of them recovered well from ACL’s last year. Both might turn it around with a fresh start.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
