Yep! Interesting to see Moloney still being named? Must be given every chance before sunday.

I really want Biz, Dunn and Pettard to play also

And I wonder if Rivers will actually play also....

Looks like Sly didnt come up

Right. I royally stuffed this up the first time because I didn't properly look at who the outs were. Here's take two.

I'd like to see these outs in addition to those already named:

Bizzell. Two talls (Dunn, Rivers) have come in and two (Holland, Ferguson) have gone out. I think PJ did enough to retain his place. I'd have dropped Jamar so we weren't carrying so many so-so talls, but he's named on the ground so that won't happen.

Yze, Brown for the sheer fact that I'd prefer that Petterd and Bate play. Petterd can slot in to the Brown running role nicely, so that works out well on a "horses for courses" scenario. Alternatively, Petterd could play a defensive roll in the back half and release Bell for a running role, but I'd prefer to leave Bell where he is for now, given his consistent performances to date.

Rivers must be 100% otherwise they'd keep one of Ferg and Holland in the 25.

Maybe that's why Bizzell has been named.

Despite all our injuries that team don't look half bad!! apart from the Forward Pocket line. It could be made better by putting the Bizz down at CHB, dropping Wheatley.

Surely we don't need 3 ruckman this week, so out goes Pj (id rather drop Jamar), also id go Bizz ahead of Wheats as mentioned above but i doubt it will happen, lets say Moloney doesnt get up as well and id drop Bate for a bit of a run at Sandy and some confidence....

IN: Bizzel, Rivers, Pickett, Dunn, Petterd.

OUT: Holland, Ferguson, Wheatley, Bate, Johnson

this way all the INS ACTUALLY COME IN...

anyone agree... (sorry its fixed now rivers is where pettard was lol there arent 2 pettards!)

No. There is only one Ricky Petterd!

I really hope Bizzell plays, he is a better defender than Wheatly.

If any of the ruckmen get dropped it should be jamar. Against sandilands it isn't going to be easy and the effort that PJ showed last week means he deserves his spot. Jamar isn't the best foward option and should be swapped with dunn.

Ferg must really be in the dog house a la Chris Lamb for whatever he did last Sunday.

I agree Ferg and Chris Lamb are similar. They are not up to AFL.

So what did PJ show as a ruckman last Sunday? That his big failing and thats why he is not selected as a ruckman ahead of Jamar. Jamar has been pedestrian so where does that put PJ?

Given Rivers and Bizzell are back I am not sure whatever good deeds he did in the back line count.

The dockers like to push thier Giant forward every quarter, we will need to play PJ to combat this. I'm worried about pickett being back, as I stated all week Freo run hard and fast getting a lot of drive from Half back, I'm worried pickett will be under done and we won't get much out of him. He is class though and you have to respect that. I would of liked to see Buckley for a bit extra pace, we look slow through the midfield.

Dee'viater check your team. Are you saying Rivers is not gonna play? You have him in your ins but not on the field.

For what it is worth I think you are right, Bate and Moloney will miss. Not sure why CJ is not in the mix.

Nothing I've seen at AFL level or at school makes me think PJ is going to make it as a ruckman - but I hope to be proved wrong.

And Freo's squad:

FREMANTLE

B: Hayden, McPharlin, Parker

HB: Mundy, Grover, Dodd

C: McManus, Hasleby, Black

HF: Headland, Pavlich, Crowley

F: Bell, Tarrant, Solomon

FOLL: Sandilands, M.Carr, J.Carr

I/C from: Cook, Campbell, Duffield, Gilmore, Walker, Webster, Warnock

IN: Black, Campbell, Duffield, Warnock, Webster

OUT: Browne (hamstring), Longmuir

Rogue and Rhino do you honestly believe that Jamar will beat sandilands in the ruck. PJ gives it his all and that is the attitude this club should have, sadly only a few players have it. Jamar isn't an elite ruckman and his ground work is terrible.

ND has it wrong again. So much for playing the young guys lol Pettard wont play i dont think.

I agree Ferg and Chris Lamb are similar. They are not up to AFL.

In Chris Lamb's last game, he was on Matthew Lloyd. He kept him to one goal at half-time. Someone else was switched on to him(?Bizz). Lloyd ended up with 5 or 6. Lamb was told he was too heavy, and to lose several kilos so he could keep up with the mobile forwards. He followed instructions, lost the weight, then was told he didn't have the body strength for the big forwards in one-on-one contests. He never played again, but has always looked a top full-back at VFL level. Apparently he was too "nice".(presumably he would have told Headland what a lovely girl his daughter looks!)

I hope(and think), Ferg's as good, though I hear he's been told he's not strong enough to take a big forward, but too slow to take a small one.

Please don't be too cutting in your reply, Rhino, as I'm rather sensitive.

If thats true the melb footy club are well no word is approaprate. What a shocking decision. I think ferg has more than Lamb...much more. People forget that he can go forward and kick goals and is a backup defender. I wouldnt be too harsh on him. Hes not in 22 but he is great depth

I have serious doubts that Riv' will play, missed rnd1 (leg soreness), played rnd2, missed rnd3 (leg soreness).

Too big a risk to play him on this recent history IMO. We're just starting to get players returning from injury :-Dunn, Pickett, maybe soon Sylvia, why take the chance by rushing an obviously persistant problem, he may do a real hammy & then miss between 3 to 6 matches. We should get these guys right, & take the opportunity thats presented through our misfortune by trying out the young'uns, give them a taste.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
