If Brown and Trac find something we win this well.
Lobb is such a gun. What a shocking game for May to get injured. Especially with Buddy next week too.

Buddy could have to answer to the MRO.

With no May down there, Lobb the worry.

Just going to have to stop the ball getting down there. Gawn or Jackson may have to help out down there

Hope so but at least we have Tomlinson ready to go. He'll be ok

Much better quarter but once again inaccurate kicking.

Ideally we need goals and behinds at a ratio of 2:1 not 1:1 or worse

Strong third quarter and ease through the fourth

Our tall forwards are indeed a worry. None in good form.

At worst, we could kick in long and high, they just need to bring the ball to ground and let Kozzie and Toby go to work

Will be hard to hold a mark in the 2nd half. Ground is dewy.

Freo will come out hard in 3Q so the boys need to be ready for it. Game is nowhere near over.

Wish Tommo was the sub but he’ll get his chance next week.

TMac has been OK of late, shame he's not out there (in more ways than one as he could have covered for May if necessary).

4-6 we kicked that quarter. Wasted some opportunities

At least we’re consistent 🤦

Its an admirable thing to do by the club to get Melk to 200 games.

One would think he would play a blinder but far from it.

Edited by leave it to deever

Clarry excellent. Maxy, Viney and ANB very good

Can see why Freo are a low scoring team. Great defensively but very stodgy ball movement and poor accuracy

Just need to keep the scoreboard ticking over. 65-70 points is more than enough to win today

That's a big part of the problem though. We're really kicking it on top of their heads a lot this year. Thought we turned  a corner last week, some good signs with forward delivery. Hopefully it's better in the second half.

Not that that's the only problem of course, but it's the main one IMO.

People laughed when I said pick van rooyen. Better than either forward below the knees

Our two key forwards aren't worth a bumper so far.

What’s the going price for a bumper these days Old Dee?

What was our adjustment in the backline?

Good question I have been trying to work that out.

Wow! This is one powerful team!

What I like:

Viney: In full beast mode.

Bedford: that speed is mesmerising.

Kozzie!!!!

Max turning it on in the second quarter with his own clearances.

Petty filling in for May.

Lever doing great.

Things to work on:

Petracca is quiet.

Rivers has made a few blues.

Jacko could do a bit more especially with Lobb being so dangerous.

Kayo playing up, glad it's half time.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
