Muck up by tipping but who cares, another nail in the dog's coffin this season.  They do not look good... Crows improving faster than expected?  Or simply Walker give them better structure.

24 free kicks to 10. Not surprising of course. That’s standard for the Dogs. Being logical and impartial, given that this is a repeating phenomenon, there can be only two explanations for it. 1. That the umpires are heavily predisposed to pay more frees to the Dogs than their opposition for reasons other than being deserved, or at least ‘equally deserved’ , or 2. that the Dogs are just spectacularly good at drawing fairly adjudicated frees, the obvious implication being that they train to create this. Can there be any other explanations, because it’s gone way beyond random? Way, waaaaay beyond.

They effectively try to play netball. Deliberately soft to not give free kicks away, and deliberately soft with ball in hand to draw frees from tackles as frequently as possible

Minor correction,  I don't think any team is top 8 material after they play us.

Still can’t buy themselves a win, even with the advantage of having 21 to 18 on the field. I would say that it is becoming farcical with the leg up the Dogs get each week, but it is now well beyond that.

It is fraudulent what is continually happening, and the AFL is complicit as they refuse to accept reality and continue to turn a blind eye to it. Instead, they’re trying to whitewash the game with this umpire respect bs.

Surely someone at AFL house is asking questions. Every 50/50 call and plenty of bogus frees go their way. Every week

What port will turn up today first or second half from last week?

Both in the first quarter! First ten minutes the former last ten, the latter. 😬😬

If I wasn’t such a Demon tragic, I’d be done with AFL. The game now is nothing to what it once was, when the outcome was decided by the 2 teams on the field. Nowadays, HQ the umps and even the media have just as much of an influence on a result.

What a pathetic quarter of footy.

Nope they’re all down at Portsea watching polo and patting themselves on the back, smoking cigars and justifying their exorbitant salaries.

The sooner Gil goes the better, afaic. The need for cultural change at HQ is long overdue. Brendon Gale would be a welcome breath of fresh air.

Am I allowed to express my dissent with the standard of football on display today - that includes players and the persons officiating?

Watching Port v Eagles on the couch and I’ve already waved my hands in dismay 3 or 4 times.

I keep waiting to watch a side who I think is or can be better than us.
I have plans tonight so I’ll miss the Carlton Freo game. I suspect Demonland posters will report back if either of these teams are the real deal.
I have strong doubts about Carlton. I think Freo could be a contender.

You can, but the umps will penalise you Jack. Probably tomorrow night 🤮

Do the betting agencies take wagers on the free kick counts?  One could retire betting on dogs games.

Port Adelaide rising from their slumber.

It only took playing a bottom 2 side ravaged by Covid and injuries on their home turf to get there.
Port for the flag.

Suggest that you and Port take it one week at a time on this one.

West Coast look like a 2nd division side of the vfa from the seventies. Dreadful.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
