I absolutely hate the thought of a roof being plonked on top of the night G, f k Eddie.

That was a really enjoyable hard scrabble game in slippery conditions.

Literally enjoyed that more than Saturday night just about. [censored] the Cats. [censored] em.

Looking forward to Chris Scott's delicious salty tears on 360 tonight.

Interesting game in the context of the top 4.

You would think that we and Brisbane will be there but the other two spots are wide open

I don't even want it to be a draw though. Don't want Geelong getting anything

We understand your anguish but it's in a good cause. The GET [censored] GEELONG cause.

Gryan Miers should get weeks for his name.

At one point a free was paid to Hawks and it looked to me like Hawkins started mouthing off to the umpire but quickly turned his head to a seemingly random Hawthorn player.   A cunning bastard.

Good on Gaz for addressing the dissent rule.  👍🏽

I think it’s a wonderful and very deep of thought adaptation of Bryan.

Wanna see the Meowdown at the Moggie website🤩. Again when the going gets tough so many just revert to scared lil puddy tats

LURVE IT

Well that result capped off a very nice Easter. Now of to enjoy some beers.

So here we are, on top of the ladder a game and percentage clear. Only 4 teams have scored more than us, and one of those got to play North and another WCE.

Meanwhile MFC and Freo are well clear on the points against. Already.

Love seeing Geelong lose, but why does it have to be Hawthorn? I don't want to see Hawthorn anywhere near the finals for years. But right now each of Geelong, Hawthorn and Sydney sit inside the top 8.

How good has this weekend been. Pies get done, Essendon, tigers, weagles and cats follow suit. Oh and we belted the giants.

Which one? I vote Hawkins.

I agree - not ideal, but aligned with my order of dislike.

Whoever beats the cats is fine with me.

Tweety Bird has summed it up perfectly

" Bad OLD puddy Tatts"

Completely neutral here as I can't stand either club.

That was a ripping game of footy to watch. Jeez that little #44 from Hawthorn has a crack. #44 from the other mob goes alright as well.

This is the thing Mazer.

During any game, umpires must see indiscretions that could be given as frees.

How do they decide when/ which to pay?

An ouija board would be more reliable. But wouldn't get past the Channel 7 AFL Oversight & Management Committee.  Slows the game down too much.

Understandable sentiment. Now that the Cats have been skinned, and we've smoked our post-coital ciggies, we're asking ourselves what the hell we have just done. But look on the bright side. If the Hawks get anywhere near us in finals, we'll murder them.

Assuming Geelong beats Hawthorn tomorrow, there will be a two game gap between 7th (likely Carlton given its percentage) and 8th (Collingwood).

Five weeks in, we are getting close to the point where the top 8 starts to take shape. There is a reasonable argument the top 7 will be playing finals this year. You'd think the 8th side will be the Dogs, with Collingwood, Richmond, Adelaide, Gold Coast and GWS mid-table sides who will win some good games but not

Three games and 50% clear of 9th.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
