WC's season looks to be well and truly down the toilet.

I’m genuinely enjoying watching the Eagles play with so many top up players. It’s fascinating to watch how the individuals play, and how they need to be coached to be competitive.

Very interesting viewing. This one WC player, Declan Mountford (just kicked their final goal). Apparently, when the game was already under way he was told to go and get changed coz he was playing.
Also, Aaron Black, has played 200+ games in the WAFL, today debuted for WC at the age of 30.
I read somewhere that not only had some of the WC squad not ever trained/played together but some had never even met one another. Amazing they lost by only 15 points.

Winning scores so far:

  • Carlton 16.6 vs Bulldogs
  • Swans 17.5 vs Geelong
  • Collingwood 15.10 vs Crows
  • Lions 15.7 vs Essendon
  • Hawks 19.6 vs Port
  • Demons 12.10 vs GCS

It looks like phenomenally accurate kicking by the victors (not so much the dees).  To me the goal efficiency above looks like poor defence, especially fwd and midfield pressure to allow such scores.  It is not just the number of goals, when very few points are kicked imv it says there is little pressure inside d50 on the ball carrier coming in or when the ball hits the ground near goal.

Some of the winning teams:  Pies, Hawks and Carlton have easy draws by virtue of the 2021 ladder position which will help them this year.  I'll wait 'til they play some of the better defensive teams to see where they sit.

Is there such a thing as a 'pressure' ladder?

This backs up my theory that Melbourne will walk in this premiership due to being the only side in the league with a competent defensive system.

Sunday graveyard slot and a 2/3 empty MCG. Looks like the Tiger Army are in full retreat.

swans look super orgainzed defensively, as do the bears

Probably the two other legit premiership contenders, and rightly so.

What happen to Tim Kelly? Had 17 in first half. Injured?

No argument with that...the team they have should be beating up on this Richmond side

They are so lazy.

Hogan still with shocking body language and poor work ethic. All the talent, none of the want.

And, that is ok.... just because you have the genetics of an athlete, doesn't mean you want to be in the environment.

And... people will keep taking a punt on you... because you have the genetics of an athlete... and YOU will keep in that environment because nothing quite pays so well, so why would you give it up.

As Paul Keating once said... ‘In the race of life, always back self-interest — at least you know it's trying’

Sure. If clubs keep paying you 6 figures and you can get away with doing the bare minimum, why wouldn’t you.
Just a shame because he could have been anything, but I had a feeling that when he left Melbourne that was the end of his career. I thought he’d plod along and he has.

Not disappointed one bit here Jaded!

Look I saw them as a threat but I’m glad they aren’t. They are super talented. Great midfield. Add Greene and they are very strong up forward too. But something is NQR there. Poor coaching, extremely poor defensive running, no game plan that I can work out. They play as highly paid individuals who couldn’t give a stuff about the team.

Leon Cameron is a genius. Any other coach would have been given the boot by now but he just rolls on. I suspect it's because very few really care about GWS other than some officials and relatives.

Thought he was gone years ago.  He's had long enough without the ultimate success.

Too early to call 'Time' on Ratten's coaching career?

Buckley available.  Has said he doesn't want to leave Victoria while his sons are at school.  But would he want it?

In going back to Perth, he retreated into his comfort zone. Not a good life move for anyone.

Tigers running on pride. Something GWS have none of. Only a matter of time before the Tigers' engine starts coughing and spluttering. A real team, smelling blood, would have put them to the sword. That includes Collingwood, Suns, and Hawks.

Healy wanting King to be like Luke Jackson.

Sure, sounds easy. Why doesn’t everyone just become like him.

My diet?

Seriously, they are slow, soft and play without passion.

Essendon, St. Kilda, Port Adelaide, Adelaide. Disappointing against Richmond today but super-competitive against the Swans last week. Missing their best player too.

A bit premature I think. I agree that they're not likely to make the 8 but I thought that before all the COVID cases. I think their performances have been admirable so far all things considered. This was the borttom 5 and their percentages after 2 rounds last year and 3 of these sides made the 8, so maybe everyone shouldn't be writing anyone off just yet (neither should they be declaring Carlton a premiership chance).
