Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Agreed. I really can’t see this working.

REPORT: AFL considering top-up pool of replacement players for 2022

The AFL seems to be concerned that some clubs manage better with their second tier affiliates than others but they should be rewarded rather than making further allowances to the lazy clubs that don’t do enough for their development.

Surely, it would be in the club’s interests to draw from a pool of players at their affiliates if the situation arises? Coaches at those clubs should be able to train their VFL players in roles so they could fit into their AFL team if necessary. The top up pool concept should only be a last resort eg if you need a ruckman or other more specialist position.

Thanks Dieter.

To be honest, both myself and the young bride are still struggling. My 7 days since testing was over on Thursday but we are both still locked away and ordering in groceries etc, because we just can't shake it.

I envy those who carry it with no symptoms.

Are things picking up, bro?

Appreciate the concern dieter. Thank you.

Your timing is impeccable. Last night I had a coughing fit so bad the bride wanted to call an ambulance, but it was probably the last hurrah, as I woke up today feeling MUCH better than any of the previous 15.

Looks like I finally have it beaten, although still have cold symptoms. Will be interesting to know if I pass the RAT test they will no-doubt make me take when I get back to work next week.

Thanks again for the concern.

Our 24 year old daughter had it after a New Year party. She was a sick girl for a few days.

Hope everyone is ok.

Just wondering if there are any reports on how many Melbourne players have got it so far.  While you wouldn't want anyone to get it, it seems after a booster most young, healthy people have very minor symptoms - if they're going to get it some time, would be better to get it through the pre-season than have to use top up players in season.

Nobody really knows how long immunity (if any) from infection lasts after contracting COVID. Could be no or little immunity that last from a month to three months.

Getting it in the preseason is not going to help in June or in September.

Clubs will probably need to hub in the lead up to and throughout the finals to protect their players.

Going to be quite a year isn’t it. Clubs that get hit with a covid outbreak mid season may be worse off than clubs getting it now. virus timing may influence the premiership. Then there is the possibility of massive outs for one side  pre big games leading to one sided slaughters on prime time. Games cancelled, ring in players, schedule changes…. interesting times.

I feel grateful we got a flag in front of 60k in a relatively simple year! It’s just so hard to predict what’s coming now. I’ll go to the g (when/ if it’s possible ) with a heightened awareness of the pleasure in it. Regardless…. we are premiers. No one and nothing can ever take that away now.

Yep ...last year wasn't so bad. The flag is 100 % legit . Not like the year prior with cancellations....shortened games and 30 games in 30 days. I would have hate to have won it then .

But I'm worried about this year as it could hamper or question the legitimacy of a back to back effort depending on what transpires.

Maybe we will win next year as well and covid doesnt interrupt it in anyway.

A premiership in any year is great. But I get what LitD means. Can you just imagine?! Everyone would say that the 2020 situation is the only reason we won a flag. And that we wouldn’t/couldn’t win one in a regular season. Not just oppo fans either; I’m sure many Dees supporters would feel like it was a halfarzed win. The point of difference for Richmond is that they’d won two of the previous three, thereby showing their worthiness.

A friend in Germany had it last month, recovered and got back to work. She has just been diagnosed positive again.

So that's not very long at all.

I was told by someone else tonight (an informed source) that Delta doesn't give much if any immunity from Omicron...but Omicron does give immunity from Delta and Omicron.

Could be she had Delta first...who knows???

We all need the virus to keep evolving as other viruses do. Easier to catch but less deadly with each new variant. At some stage, it wont matter if any vaccines or previous exposure gives you any extra protection, as the virus that you catch wont be a big threat to anyone.

If it doesn't happen that way, I do NOT want to catch this bicth again. It was horrible.

It will be interesting to see how the players respond to a possible hub situation for the 3rd year straight. It may just show how determined sides are. Those contending for a flag maybe willing to go the extra mile and hub to ensure that the best 22 are on the park every week. Where as those rebuilding or middle table, may have a different attitude all together and hence be more susceptible to having large chunks of the team missing.

It does appear that most athletes are generally back on their feet within a week of contracting the virus. Not so dissimilar to other viruses contracted  during the season. Given the lax environment right now, where negative RAT tests gives a healthcare worker the all clear to return to work, I cannot see how the AFL will not give similar guidelines to the players when an outbreak within a team occurs.

It is hopefully looking the season will start in a decent timeframe for Covid - barring any new strains.

The worst of Omicron is over in the south-east, hospitalisation finally falling.  so by end of March we could be looking good

The head of Bunnings and the senior management team are also leaving the West

Wesfarmers chief executive Rob Scott’s decision to move with his senior corporate executives from Perth to the Eastern states is akin to Prince Harry moving his family out of the UK.

Wesfarmers is the closest thing to royalty that Western Australia has. The 108-year-old company is the largest in the state, its head office is a part of Perth skyline and its tentacles spread throughout the broader community in the arts, philanthropy and Indigenous education.

Scott’s decision to abandon his perch in Perth for the duration of the COVID imprisonment and move to Melbourne is partly pragmatic but comes with a large dollop of political motivation to pressure West Australia’s McGowan government, whose decision to keep the border closed to outsiders indefinitely has been roundly criticised by those outside the state.

FGS why worry now  about the legitimacy potential for this years flag ?

1. We haven't won it yet?
2. If we do it's confirming our greatness.

3. Please don't give it as a reason if we don't win it . It's not negotiable after last season when we took all in our stride.

4. So far we are on track in pre season and many things  are outside our control.
5. I bet the players are not sitting around discussing any disadvantages of 2022 preventing us winning back to back.

6. Really supporters that do have got their MFCSS back big time already!!
7. we are and last season played any where any time and any way!!! And we won by so far no one could query the season or legitimacy of our Flag.

8. Let's repeat in 2022 more of the same !!

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
