The wrong dictionary for an Italian word.

Even in writing 'Capeesh' grates!   Forget 'capiche' altogether!

LD-vC's alter ego, Dante (the now deceased, real life one not the DL one) 'created' the Italian language as it is know today.  I reckon LD-vC knows his stuff.

    normally, but there are plenty of exceptions. e.g. i know a previous work product "WSU". we pronounced it as the initials and the yanks pronounced it as "woosoo".....just saying

    anyway, ANB, ASIO  and such are not abbreviations

    I reckon young Jacob had it for the Finals.  His family was very pumped for him to get to us.  The man at the back in the video was like an expectant father when he knew the next bid was the Dees.

    Any draftee would be happy to land at MFC. Bowey shown what’s possible. The club also plays kids if they are showing form (sparrow, Jordan, Jackson). We might be a top side but unlike many top teams of the past - we do play youth. Should set us up well going forward too.

    Our last three first round draft picks - Jackson, kozzie and Roo.

    Add rivers, who wasn't a first rounder, but is first round quality, and that makes four West Australian boys (if you count kozzie).

    Say's a lot about the confidence we have in our culture I reckon. Particularly after years of the will Hogan go home fugazi

    I wouldn't have done either, either. Good thing i wasn't in charge!

    But as you say sent a very clear message.

    It seems to me that over the journey many people seemed to think goody's quiet, reflective demeanor was evidence of a lack of fire, steeliness and toughness.  Those calls were evidence such an assessment were way of the mark

    Van Rooyen looks more likely to be a key defender at AFL level given his athletic profile and size. 194cm without great speed or endurance or leap. Who is the best current comparison as a AFL forward? Tex Walker?

    If he becomes a defender, hopefully he can turn into a Petty or Hurley type player.

    Good call. The first player that sprung to mind when I watched his highlights was Harrison (never "Harry") Petty. We could do worse than have a Harrison Petty clone.

    Petty to the forward line in a couple of years and Roo to the Petty role?

    Would be nice...

    No thanks.

    Petty is a very near future AA defender.

    I predict he will be in the 2023 AA team.

    An absolute gun defender who is much more valuable as a defender than a forward. In my opinion.

      Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

    • REPORT: West Coast

      On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
