It’s going to be a boring to watch but I’m still looking forward to it. Excited to see who’s the lucky draftee is that gets to join our young and talented list.

How things have changed these past few years. The Grand Final is now our GF, not draft day.

That is what I said in point 3) of the post you quoted but curiously deleted it from the quoted post 🤔

The deleted part of my post is below.

There are many permutations of pick swaps for us and other clubs and yeah giving up pick 17 for two in the low 20's is one.

Honestly didn't see any point 3 when I quoted you. At the very least I didn't intentionally delete it.

When does it start? Fox puff piece central.....

You know we won the flag when I only just realised it's draft night because Kayo popped up with a reminder on my phone.

What a time to be alive!

Horne-Francis looked the most unimpressed person to be taken at Number 1 in the draft I think I have ever seen.

Have they finally made the first pick?

On the AFL website they have done the top 10

Sorry I misread it. They were saying will they go as predicted and listed club and player.

Just let the draft run

Mac Andrew to the Gold Coast. Bad luck for the kid. From a selfish perspective increases the chances of him coming home to us after 2 years or when the suns are disbanded

Nothing surer. He will be in Melbourne (city) in 3 years.

Thought the same MadAsHell - Seriously death by a thousand lashes would be welcomed rather than watching this waffling dribble.

If this is the best night of the year for Cal Twomey then I am intrigued to know what a bad night for him could look like.......

Not sure he isn't happy, I just fink he might be a foody player first and fourmost.

Our picks are now currently 19, 38, 42 and 50.

Blake Howes looks a pretty safe pick as predicted on the phantoms.  Any one got any late mail as to our first choice?

All depends what the Giants do with their next pick.

Twomey has the first 10 spot on. Would be a hell of a lot quicker and better if they just let him run through his selections as the draft.

Given how many kids we had out there, the grand final was not that far off our draft day!

Poor Ben Hobbs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
