What magical house costs that little in Melbourne? 🤣

Who in the AFL buys a house for cash?

Unless daddy or Mummy are multi-millionaires.

Petracca, Oliver, Gawn and Jackson. All once in a generation type players, all in the same team at the same time, and they’re playing for us!

We deserve 5.7 once in a generation players! 1 for each 10 years without a flag.

the 4 you mentioned, Kozzie, and Salem can be the 0.7

Get him on a long term deal if he will take unders, otherwise just 2-3 years at a time.

Still yet to show he can ruck full time and needs to win more hit outs if that is to be his role long term. I’m fine if he stays as a part time ruck while playing fwd but we need to pay him as such. Huge potential but still has a lot of improvement to make before he is worth the big dollars

I am more than happy to manage his online dating profiles to find the right Melbourne girl for him.

Ideally we are looking for wealth bayside family, strong AFL pedigree in the family and a love of unicorns.

Garbo, every year we don’t sign him for now, will just result in $1m+ a year when it comes to the next contract.

can absolutely guarantee you Tim Lamb and team, will be attempting to sign him for as long as possible.

I think you are underestimating his GF workload in a big way.

He helped us turn and then dominate a GF.

I don’t know what you’re waiting for.

If we won’t pay him, 17 other clubs will happily.

Does anyone think we will see Dogga playing midfield minutes next year? The thought of him roving to Gawn and dishing out to the Tracc/Clarrie (Trollie) combo is, in my opinion, [censored] mind-blowing.

If you watch the Oliver goal in the 3rd, Jacksons clean pick up and hand ball whilst almost running as fast as Oliver (Jackson isn’t sprinting at full pace) is crazy. He could be an Adam Goodes type player but more athletic and a much better ruckman, I honestly believe that. Some of the players say that at training, the things he can do athletically shouldn’t be possible for a guy of his size.

And he’s probably 5 years off his absolute prime as a player. We could be on the eve of having one of the best midfield trio’s ever, if we can keep him and Oliver with Petracca.

As zi have said previously Garbo sometimes your name reflects what you write.

This is one of those slip ups.

Fogga has turned about 4/5 games this year Hss improved in every aspect of his game and has the ball handling skills of a rover!

He runs all day and is a great team man.

And he was 19 when the Finals started!!!

Hive him a break. The Club are doing all the right things and will do it agsin with Doggs.

He deserves a medium salary contract on say a four year term back loaded.

A generational player who we should get plus 200 sensational games out of and a couple of more flags at least.

on ya Dogga

His contract will be upwards of $450K so he should be able to buy a house and furnish it, for his parents.

If Rory Lobb is $700 000 plus a year (staggering), Luke's contract will be a fair bit above that 450 mark.

I agree.

I can see potential for Jackson being a Goodes/Blicsavs type player (not that Blicsavs is anywhere near Goodes as a player) that can player any position on the ground, regardless of if he turns into a full time ruckman. Even him as a Ruck/rover/forward/Wing/full back if need be, he will only get more powerful as his body develops and there’s nobody of his size that will out run or manoeuvre him in a couple of years. The kid could be anything.

I know it wasn’t the GF and I know it was only against GC late in the season but his game that day really made me take notice of what’s to come with this young gun.

4 goals (3 lovely set shots) and played like a boss that day. Dominated for much of the game.

A must re-sign but acknowledge his close ties to WA, so an extension isn’t a 100% guarantee.

Not saying we wait but he hasn’t arrived yet imo, not at the level where you paying him the big money, we have at least 8 players who need to get there cut before him.

The centre clearance goals in the 3rd would have happened with or without Jackson there, he actually didn’t win any of those hit outs and in most didn’t even influencing the contest. compare to Gawn who not just wins most hit outs but does to advantage. Great Jackson was there no one can take that way but dont pretend it wasnt 90% down to Viney trac and Oliver.

That is the risk, but equally possible he plateaus for a a few years, until he is getting the majority of the ruck duty we just don’t know.

sure he was speculative when we drafted him, but that is not the current situation....shown more in 2 seasons than even Jason Taylor could have imagined:- and all this before his body has even developed.

On “trac” to be our best player in a few years:- as a club we can’t afford to do anything other than pay him the respect he deserves.

If we had room for Cerra in the cap then we have room to front end a few deals and get some years on the end of Jackson, Oliver, Pickett et al

Have a look at our contract status:

Petracca, Viney, Gawn, Salem, Lever, Langdon, May, Harmes, Brown, and TMac all taken care of.

Jackson, Oliver (up in 23), Fritsch, Pickett, Petty and Brayshaw are all that’s left in terms of our stars to A grade talents.

Jackson easily the 2nd most important behind Oliver.

Luke got the ball to ground for Viney, Tracc, Oliver or HIMSELF in that 3rd Quarter onslaught. You continue to vastly underestimate what a 19 year old kid was able to do. He didn’t do it once, he repeatedly did it. No Footscray player got near it. They were obliterated

How can you say he did not influence the contest???

Anyone know the Canberra Times' strike rate?

This is in the Canberra Times, article published this afternoon:

"In more good news for the AFL premier, grand final hero Luke Jackson will sign a new deal with Melbourne soon. Jackson, who is contracted until the end of next season, will commit long-term to the Demons.

The West Australian believes his future is in Melbourne and he will be joined by his parents in Victoria."

https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/7464063/the-chase-is-on-to-catch-the-melbourne-demons-in-2022/

It would be the first story the CT has broken in about 20 years.

Jacko is the type of player you would try to sign on a 10 year deal. His management wouldn’t be silly enough to do that but he has the potential to be something else and has already shown us some flashes of it.

How funny would it be for Gawn to end up being the ruck who starts/plays most of the time in the fwd 50, giving the occasional chop out to Jackson in a couple of years. Maxi kicking goals at a really high % too.

Agree with BoBo above, Jackson looks like an Adam Goodes type player. He is not there yet, and he has a LONG way to go to get anywhere near Goodes, but his midfield attributes, aerial ability, burgeoning ruck work, and aggressive 2nd efforts hint at something rare.

I am not a fan of huge contracts - either financially huge or duration huge - but we simply have to keep this bloke.

It’s a good comparison.

goodesy first year he didn’t play a game. His second year, he averaged a goal, 12.8 disposals, and 9 hit-outs.

won his Brownlow’s in his 6th and 9th year’s

I find it interesting how he jumps in a ruck contest. In 3rd 1/4 his jumping style was similar to a basketballer or a volleyball  spiker.

Almost unplayable.  He signs up and the Dees will have big maxy for another 5 years as a result of reducing his game time from 90% plus

He is a sort of Nic Nat, Adam Goodes mix, but he looks better below his knees and has a good yard of pace.

His development for a Ruck/Tall  in just his second year is mind blowing

After Trac, Clarry and Gawny, he will be our next superstar.

Luke Jackson either has, or is about to sign on long term, his family is moving from Perth and he very firmly sees his future in Melbourne.

Massive signing for the club.

-i'm sure official confirmation will come through very shortly

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
