Ryan Daniels has an odd obsession with unicorns.

Who doesn’t, amirite?! Well, I do. 😁

But the word gets bandied around so freely now that it’s not as potent as it used to be.

Besides, I don’t consider Dogga a unicorn. If anyone from our team is a unicorn it’s Clarrie.

Still yet to make up his mind, is what i am hearing

For an article titled “How Freo can land unicorn”, the author spent very little time explaining how Freo can in fact land the unicorn.

Exactly, can't believe I wasted time skimming through

I’d also like to add. If freo are having to do this to get Luke Jackson in, there is simply no way they can actually afford Angus brayshaw

If that's coming from Melbourne of course he would say that if he is planning to leave though. I think he's gone but will be pleasantly surprised if he stays. I don't want to lose Gus either though, he has been immense the past two seasons.

Nothing has been signed. He is genuinely torn.

Further, I think the club already knows whether or not Dogga and Gus are going, or at least have a verbal agreement with them both to go down one path or the other. May not know for sure which clubs are involved, but Taylor, Lamb and Goody will be all over every possible scenario

I think the club would have a good idea what both are thinking, but I also think that until end of season these things are rarely done deals, for a couple of reasons:

- Unless there is a very specific reason that Jackson must go home (family, friend, illness, etc), then it'll be a desire thing.

- We don't know where Jackson sits on the "like to go" vs "must go" scale. And it sounds like the club don't either. Until that is known, his currency isn't known.

- Freo/WCE will need to stump up appropriate trade. Until end of year, it is unlikely we will have even entertained that convo with them, plus we also know that currently neither party has available currency. So until final draft order, other trades/player movements, etc get known, it is entirely possible that it just won't happen.

- Unless Jackson is willing to walk into the PSD for nothing, and probably get picked by WCE, then Freo will have to trade.

- For Gus, it's similar. He is exploring FA. He'd be remiss not to meet and greet, hear an offer etc.

- I would be surprised if they are giving an exact number right now, with salary cap/ EBA unknown etc

- I'm sure MFC have given a good number but would also potentially have room to move if an LJ left.

- So unless Angus hates MFC or his current role, and can't wait to move OR unless he is being offered an absolute godfather offer that we can't get near, then it would still be up in the air as well.

Bode well for us in that case. Means he wants to stay as much as he wants to leave. If it's true and he is torn then I'd bet on him signing for 2-3 years and staying.

He's not even a good set shot for goal. Reasonable mark but inaccuracy is his middle name.

luke knows he is part of something special

wow, that ryan daniels article was typed with one hand on the keyboard and one on purple, wasn't it?

pure fantasy and nothing to do with how they ACTUALLY get the trade done

"we're going to keep all our players! and be able to pay jackson!! HUZZAH!!!"

pay not play

"Fremantle tall Rory Lobb has been reminded he is a contracted player and is wanted next season despite industry sources claiming he is a major chip in the Dockers’ bid to lure Luke Jackson.  Dockers coach Justin Longmuir said on Saturday he expected Lobb to be at the club next season".

That is the second time in as many weeks Longmuir has pumped up Lobb as a wanted player.  Not bluffing anyone saying he is a wanted player.

Just trying to max Lobb's trade value and use his contract as leverage.  Not sure whether the message is for the bulldogs to pay up more or to us as a key to a LJ trade.

Nah it's Stephen, Matt has seen his birth certificate apparently.

Having read that article, I am more convinced than ever that being an AFL journalist is easier than ever. The bloke spent an entire page writing a kids fantasy novel and offered no solution on how Freo get the deal done, despite his headline. What a complete waste of 5 minutes reading that dribble.

I could repeat what I think of the media for anyone that wants to know.

I don’t know why, but Longmuire just irritates me. He did as player and now does as a coach.

It’s his smug little face.

this is a fantasy article written purely to appeal to the wa public

can sum it up as follows:

99% jackson to freo

99% no loss of freo best 23 players

100% jackson's salary can fit in the cap

p.s. i'd like to know if there was any dodgy financing arrangements on jacko's $1.75m new perth house

Nathan Jones also cited the example of Tom Boyd whereby earning an exorbitant amount of money for a 21-22 year old  can actually do more harm than good for one’s mental heath.

The pressure of being the highest paid player at the club at such a young age could really be harmful to a kid’s development.

Jones advised to LJ to re-consider the Freo offer by staying at MFC where he can still learn off Gawn, earn a bit less money and relieve himself of excessive scrutiny and pressure.

Thanks for posting BBP.

Very wise words from Jones and very well articulated.

Hopefully LJ takes on board Jones comments.

Thanks SWYL, any news on Gus or what's holding things up?

I do find it strange players would consider leaving now.

Nothing on Gus mate. I think it all depends on LJ

But seriously why would you make a call before the Season is done?

Both Players could be dual Premiership

That would make things very different.
I wouldn’t be signing anything yet….

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
