Didn’t have a disposal in the second half last night. Million dollar players don't go an entire half without touching the ball when the whips are cracking.

Havent looked at the stats but sounds like an awful second half

As a coach though you also have the right to ask what's happening with performance.  And if you suspect he's already checked out... i know what i'd be doing...

My very strong mail, and it won’t come as any surprise, is that Jackson will be playing in WA next year.  The Club even offered to move his family to Melbourne recently and it was rejected.

I'm calling BS on this, you also said a couple of years ago that Oliver wanted to leave because he didn't win the B&F.

Seriously you two..

Do you guys understand that Jackson going into the PSD is the worst possible outcome that could happen to our football club.

We get absolutely zero benefit out of this and get completely shafted.

Whether you like it or not Jackson is out of contract. The moment we he nominates Freo, that's exactly who we have to deal with. Players has more power now days then the actual club especially when out of contract and nominate a set club.

You can pretend to talk tough all you want but at the end of the day, the club (Melbourne) need to find the best possible deal it can to be satisfied.

Name me one big out of contact player that nominated a club of choice but then was forced to be traded to another because it didn't suit the clubs set requirements.

It doesn't happen now days.

Not necessarily. I would goto Norf and say give us Pick #2 (priority pick) and we will knock back all offers from WCE and Freo and force LJ into the PSD. Its a dog act, yes, but it also gives us even more bargaining power to keep both WCE and Freo in check.

They will know that we are using them as a bargaining chip, but we can come to some sort of arrangement / understanding for future swaps or trades, but ultimately it allows us to attach some value to the Norf option - not sure if its totally legal though.

Does anyone have access to the article? Is it anything new?

no

the only interesting thing about that article is that jon ralph admits that jackson could wake up tomorrow and decide he's staying

in order words...he has as much idea as anyone else

So yeah.. that's incredibly bizarre and this type of scenario has never ever happened in AFL trade history and it certainly won't happened with Jackson.

Again, once they've nominated a club, they're getting there.

To technically get picked up by North he has to physically sign a contract. He would never in a million years play for another Melbourne club via a PSD draft.

Why does everyone think Melbourne will be this complete badass come trade time lol.

We've never operated this way and have built incredibly strong relationships with other clubs during trade time due to our professional style in getting deals done without any issues.

He's not screwing us at all Jaded.

He's out of contract and has the right to request a trade to his club of choice.

The moment he nominates Freo we'll facilitate the best deal for the club. You're forgetting we have Jason Taylor and Tim Lamb who have facilitated some of the best deals going sound in years.

Of course he’s screwing us if he nominates Freo when he knows full well we will get better compensated if he went to West Coast. Height of arrogance for somebody who has only achieved what he’s achieved because of the club he found himself at and not vice versa

Totally different scenario. Firstly Lever had a partner and kid on the way. Secondly Adelaide was a horrible mess of a club.

Jackson is 21. Not married. No kids. No problems playing for and winning flags.

Lol talk about double standards.

No club owns a player. If he's desperate to leave as it is looking could be the case, we shake hands and wish him the best and look at getting maximum compensation.

That will never change.

Bring in the rule, stop players and clubs meeting and talking in the media so blatantly, and the discussion calms down during the season. It won’t even be at zero but it surely helps.

Its best for clubs and players and only impacts the media marginally. But the trade off is more players will move clubs unexpectedly when the off season starts.

Adelaide just made the grand final. Let’s no assume we couldn’t be in a similar spot to them in a few years (minus the infamous camp).

We also don’t know all of Jacko’s story. He might be incredibly tight with his family and have good reason to be with them.

Players get to choose, that’s the system, if Freo are willing to pay the price then we aren’t getting screwed.

He also said Luke Dunstan had met with dees well before it came out in the media last year and was a certainty to sign.

He's had more right then wrong and has great links through his friend through player management.

Jesus Jaded this is seriously very unlike of you..

We need to cool the jets yeah? This whole media circus about him nominating Freo has come from one bloke only and that's Jon Ralph.

For now lets chill out until official confirmation, meanwhile let's continue to support Jacko while he's playing in the red and blue yeah?

You just call BS on everything, so by sheer coincidence that means sometimes you are correct.
As of early Last week the Club was Confident they could keep Jackson, but nothing had been signed.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
