To clarify, say we wanted to go with the 38 & 4 option, then yes we wouldn't need to create anymore room on the senior list, but we'd have to delist one of Daw, Mitch Brown, Deakyn Smith, Turner or Declase which seems unlikely.

I expect us to do as we did this season and what most clubs did and go with the 36 & 6 option. Meaning two more delistings to come from the senior list.

I'm happy with this as well, though it means there was be some list decisions to come.

At the end of this season we has a list of 45 (36 senior, 8 Cat A rookies and 1 Cat B rookie) that needed to be reduced to 42 (36 senior and 6 Cat A rookies).

We've delisted 4 senior players, 1 Cat A rookie and the Cat B rookie. Opens up 4 senior list spots, but we were still 1 over the Cat A rookie allowance.

With Jordon's promotion earlier in the year, plus this likely one for Chandler (if it's 2 years we have to promote him), then Dunstan's signing, it leaves us with 1 senior spot available and 1 Cat A rookie spot.

So with the three picks we recently received in the trade, my guess is we'll be clearing at least two more spots.

Hore, Bedford, Baker, Hibberd. Only two of these guys can survive the way I see things.

If that’s the case then it’s Hore and Bedford gone as there have been multiple reports of Baker and Hibberd close to finalising deals.

Mitch Brown was renewed for another year wasn't he?

Kade and all his friends have resigned.

Oskar Baker, Toby Bedford, Mitch Brown, Majak Daw, Deakyn Smith and Daniel Turner have all inked new deals which will see them remain in the Red and Blue for the upcoming season.

Nobody wants to leave this club and who can blame them.

Confirmed in the last 15min, yep.

Leaves Hibberd, Hore & Declase.

We're probably getting off track in this thread but it's probably not looking great for Hore?

No it's not. But great news for Chandler. Promotion to senior list. Well deserved!

Who remains unsigned?? Hore? Declase??

And Hibberd. Though media reports suggest he's about to get a new deal.

Do we know for sure that Chandler’s been upgraded to the primary list, or are we assuming he is? In the article they released, it doesn’t really specify.

We believe senior. Herald Sun and apparently trade radio have advised he was extended for 2 years which means like Jordon, he has to be upgraded.

Cheers mate. It makes sense seeing Adelaide wanted him, in which we couldn’t have offered another rookie contract, surely.

Melbourne List Manager Tim Lamb said it was fantastic to have had Chandler commit to the club.

“Kade had genuine interest from other clubs and it’s pleasing that we have been able to re-sign him,” Lamb told Melbourne Media.

“Not only is Kade a high-quality player, but he is also a great fit for our club culturally and is highly respected among the playing group.”

We could keep Chandler on the rookie List and upgrade him at the end of the season, it could be 1 year on the rookie and 1 year on the main list

Knocks back S.A offers. Fantastic turnaround from our earlier days when one of the Jarmans refused to play for Melbourne.

Agreed.  That is effectively what we did with Jordan except that Jordan got 2 years on the main list.

There is a fair chance Crows were offering him a main list spot, perhaps 2 years.  For him to reject that would suggest we offered something better, perhaps similar to Jordan:  1 rookie year, 2 senior years = 3 year contract.

I'm only guessing but that looks like a plausible reading of how things have panned out.

Or Jordan Jones, as Luke Darcy would have it.

Or Jordon, as Jordon would have it.  :D

Lol! BT was still calling Jordan Jackson and Jackson Jordan in the last quarter of the year, the disrespect is palpable, but funny, cos they’re both premiership players and BT is a [censored]!

* Jordon!  :D

Unfortunately players on the fringes have played very little football in the last 2 years and their development in heat of battle has not occured to Chandler Bedford Baker Jordan Laurie Rosman and Bowey, although Bowey through performances and injuries to Smith and Hunt was promoted and florished.

Hopefully 2022 they can get time on the park at Casey and push for senior selection thru performances at the lower level.

Training can only do so much in practice of your skills but when under pressure in a game this is the time that we can see whether the skills have improved or not.

Smart move by both Kyle and the club, he'll get a decent crack at it in the next 2 years, if he decides to move on we get a guaranteed pick for him.

Shrewd business by the Dees.

Pretty sure it was Darren, he then went to Hawthorn in 1990 3 years after the Dees drafted him from North Adelaide Roosters.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
