Grand Final Day - What will you do?

The vast majority of Dee's fans live in Melbourne and it is hard to reconcile that we won't see Melbouurne awash with Red and Blue as we make our way to the game.  No bbq's with family and mates. No pubs open to scream and holler with fellow supporters. No dancing in the streets if we take home the silverware. It feels a little hollow.

What will you do in this strange year as part of the build up to the big dance?

For regional Vic's like myself or interstaters, are there any venues who will be holding events for those of us who are luckily enough not to be in lockdown ?

Depending on weather - drive to The Pass and either surf or if unfavourable waves take a ride into the Byron hinterland, coffee at Bayleaf.

Scarf hanging out in the car window in the traditional manner. Streamers and balloons on our fence.

Crack a bottle of Bowen Estate or Henschke at half time depending on progress.

Next morning either an angry ride for a loss or happy ride for win.

I’ll play it by ear but here’s the most likely way it plays out:

I’ll attempt to drink myself into oblivion on the Friday night in hopes of waking up at 2:30pm on Saturday and most of the waiting behind me. Upon waking up I’ll probably heave, then amble around the block a few times on a run powered entirely by nervous energy.
Then it will be a shower and back to the bar fridge for the next 4 hours.

Yeah I see your point, to be honest we can go to a public place with 1000's of people to get vaccinated but going to a freind shouse to watch a game of football is out of the question, seems mad

I agree it's mad and would've been nice to watch the game with mates.

But we can't so I won't.

Is anyone sneakily going to go to a family members or freinds house to watch it?

The opposition leader suggested bringing in a family bubble for GF day. I think that’s a great idea, let’s  see if Dan allows it. Either way, rules will be broken that day.

Be glad that my anxiety every game day will be given a rest. Win or lose.

You are not alone. The life of a MFC supporters is tough even when we are winning, finished top of the ladder and cruised into a GF.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
