At least, I think it was my son. 🤔

Ben Gibson: "So Simon, we have to appease these bloody Melbourne supporters all week since they can't watch the game in person and for some reason that irks them. Can I put up some training footage?"

Simon Goodwin: "Gee I don't know about that Gibby. Won't the Dogs use it to their advantage?"

Ben Gibson: "Hmm…Good point Goody. I know, let's just show the bits where our likely 22 look terrible."

Simon Goodwin: "Great idea Gibby. Make sure you put in all 3 of the times in the whole two hour training session where the B-team break away by hand."

Ben Gibson: "Awesome, that's a wrap!"

Simon Goodwin: "Thanks Gibby. Keep up the good work. By the way, it's a best 23 these days. Love the poddy mate!"

....Ben Gibsin 'oh, one more thing goody. The reds played bloody well. Like a bunch of blokes desperate to get a game in a grand final. For example majak kicked 3 goals. I'll make sure I include one of his goals and say vanders rampaging and hurry and Chandler and weed.

The dogs will be rightly worried that our b team is red hot and better than their A team

I'm learning about misinformation online, so I reckon that will get in their heads.

One last thing. Stop calling me [censored] Gibby. The boys have been laughing at me all season'

I keep saying that Keath has done his hammy TWICE since round 19.

He won't be able to push very hard on that leg.

As for Stef, he will basically be a decoy with English playing fwd to try and stretch our defence.

yes Keath is an interesting one as it seems to keeping popping up in commentary about his injury, being tested, may be ok etc. Brown's runnign will be a challenge.

Luke Jackson could well be a trump card for allowing the Dees to just keep running pressure on all day against Martin and/or English.

Totally agree, I hope Goodwin and Yze are right on to this aspect of the game !!

I'm confident they learnt their lesson from Round 19. Max had 56 hitouts and Dogs win clearances by 8 I think, maybe more.

The Dees coaching group will have this planned to deal with and have the talent to do it.

4 out of 4 picking us on Footy Class.

Uh-oh...

😄

Scary. And 3 out of 3 on On the Couch tipped Melb too.  All by 2 goals plus

Norm Smith tips were:

garry     Oliver

Nick      Petracca

Brown   Max   (Brown showing off his Max Gawn beard from the Herald Sun)

Healy   Jack Viney

On the Couch won the 2021 AFL Medai Assoc Best Football Program, which having access to it for the first time  across the season I completely agree with. Top show.

Been thinking strongly of picking Viney for Norm Smith. He has been great since he came back from suspension and prob played his best game of the season in the prelim. Paying $21 which I think is good value.

I thought working this week and being busy would really help make the time fly by but it's done the opposite! I really want to be off this week and soaking up every bit of media I can. Boo!

Agree. Great value.

In large part because the Norm smith is decide by a panel that includes a mixture of journos and ex players.

And ex players love the hard at it, competitive beast types. And jack has also been getting a lot of possession of late too, so the numbers will work for him when the journos look to the stat sheet.

It only just occurred to me how significant it would be for dees player to win the Norm Smith medal.

Yeah, every single footy show person tipped us tonight. It's a bit nerve racking. Not to mention being short priced favourites to win. Very scary. 😂

Our players in the selected side need to just ignore the hype that they have earned, gathered and proven. Go at 'em, Dees! Play as if there is no hype - build your confidence from the conduct of this game - largely ignore recent history. Make a new marque with team play, support, intelligent linkages.

Create a new history by winning every quarter of a GF through determination.

If you look at the finals series the dogs footy outside of the first 1/2 against Port has been very mediocre, and required a lot of sloppy efforts by opposition to keep them in the game.

there is no doubt in my mind the Lions should have beaten them in the Semi final

Aus post is cooked. Unless you ordered express don’t expect normal mail for 2-3 weeks

Got mine 2 days ago, but used the express delivery option for 17.50

I ordered a Demons Guernsey from New Balance as the Prelim was being played, still no sign of it.

Tracking says 'shipping information received 14th September"

This is only adding to my GF anxiety

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
