I'm kinda staggered that someone would read through all of his tripe to compile that list.

Theres an hour or so of your life that you aren't going to get back

It was about an hour. Fired me up. Hopefully the boys read it too and it fires them up to stick it to spex.

I’d say that, since 2017 at least, he’s probably new the most positive journos when writing about Melbourne.

There is a reason his nickname is purple.

A bit of a stretch to call him a journo, but I reckon David King, on & off, has been our biggest promoter.

It's certainly not because purple is a combination of red and blue.

I don't think Damien actually knows what the term "sliding door moment" means.

I'm not convinced he even understands what an 'If/then' statement is.

As far as I'm concerned his journalistic range stretches from 'listicle-maker' to 'nosy vicar' and not much else. Just another media passenger weighing down the game.

King definitely went all-in during 17 and 18.

Can someone give me some sort of summary so I don’t have to read through all of DB’s waffle? Hurts my brain.

Damien Barret : Shizen

I listen most mornings to his show with Nat Edwards. He has a fair crack at Carlton’s governance (or lack of), the Collingwood board, Jeff Kennett and the AFL match review procedures. I quite like him

Damien Barrett is painful. Jay Clark is trying to have a crack at the title after that stupid question to Chris Scott in the after match press conference.

I'm not sure why Damien (or anyone's) opinion matters to you, and I can see that it does.

Here are some reasons as to maybe why he hasn't given credit where credit is due in the IF...THEN... column

  • Maybe he falls into the 'I still don't trust them' camp.
  • It's not the right forum to be putting that opinion forward
  • We became minor premiers essentially at the last kick of the season - a week earlier we could have dropped to 5th.
  • Perhaps he really [censored] hates us for some obscure childhood reason, and only he knows that, but because of that, he gets to shape how people feel about how he feels about Melbourne because he has agency to write words about a sport that he gets paid to write about.

It suits the Media(individual) to not look stupid right up until the last minute, and then be able to say " I told you so".

If you think that he was against us there, read his stuff on us in ‘13.

A lot of what he wrote then about scattergun recruiting was spot on. Not surprisingly, some people on here thought he was just being a ‘hater’.

Which stupid question was that?

I apologise if I got the wrong journalist but the question was along the lines of this "what would the shape of the game look like if Jeremy Cameron was playing for GWS and not for Geelong". After 120mins of an AFL game that was the best question he could come up with.

Ok thanks. For a qualified journalist thought the question was pretty ordinary.

Chris Scott politely referred to it as a "weird hypothetical". Seriously who actually pays these journos to come up with this stuff...

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
