We are in front, showing up the Lions defence. Getting beaten around the stoppages, and groundball in defensive 50 is a huge worry so far. Great to see Bowey step in for last 5 mins at ground level. Cover Cameron, we win.

If that chaos ground ball [censored] continues Cameron will kick 7! Not sure why we are fumbling in those 50/50 forward pinballs by them?

Tighten up defence at their forward 50 stoppages and we’re in business.

Probably nerves and it is wet.
plus Lever is not great at ground balls.

A bit more free flowing than I’d like. But a lead is a lead.

That the move was made from Salo to Smith was a no brained. Salo’s a playmaker, not a lockdown defender.

Lets get this done!

Win it in the middle, I don't give a stuff who Cameron's direct opponent is.

If we can transplant a footballers brain into Smiths head, we’ll win this comfortably. Defense is struggling when the ball hits the deck, as Smith and Rivers are losing touch of their men. Tidy that up, and we’re sorted. Our forwards look dangerous tonight.

Stop! Please stop.

This game being played on Brisbane s terms

That was generally a good first quarter but here's my question: can someone please sort out Charlie Cameron?

And Rich and Neale

Could be the making of Joel Smith tonight

Nice Fritta!!!

A lot of talk about Smith. Rivers made bigger mistakes in that quarter

He’s playing alright, despite those who have a clear vendetta against him

We're looking more reliable going forward. Fritter could have two. At least he has one. Brown providing a fantastic target up the ground and inside 50.

Love the composure from Fritsch! Wasn't indecisive in playing on. Took it back and dobbed it. Good headspace Bailey.

Clayton Oliver superb so far. His field kicking has been exceptional

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
