What do you guys think we will genuinely get for Weid if he does go?

Do we take a chance and move on a player like Harmes?

Hearing rumours of Sparrow to the Crows, what pick would we get in that deal?

Neale being in play for Freo means they will want Cerra out asap so they know what they're working with to get Neale in.

third round pick

no

contracted, so wouldn't be happy to see him go, but adelaide's second round pick might be okay

cerra i can't see it us being able to land

I'll add a bit to that @adonski

I would be hugely surprised if the club thought it was best fit to trade Sparrow.. like Adam Treloar Lachie Neale type surprise.

First of all Sparrow is contracted still. Club resigned him for a couple of years off the back of only playing 7 games in 2 years and most of it impacted by injury.

The club rates him so HIGHLY. He's one of the most impressive up and coming individuals at our club due to his work ethic and professionalism. His leadership is first class for a young player and Jordan Lewis has been on record at his SEN breakfast slot as his pick for a future leadership role at the club. I do know Choco Williams is a huge wrap for this kid also.

Sparrow is also happily settled in Melbourne.  Has found himself a Melbourne girl and lives with Jimmy Jordon and Aaron Nietschke.

We are now seeing the real potential Sparrow has off the back of consistency of games and also more midfield time. His impact against Geelong and then Brisbane in a final was enormous for the team.

If Cerra nominates Melbourne it won't be at the expense of Sparrow.

There'll be other alternative.

@dazzledavey36I think that up until a few weeks ago - Sparrow had another frustrating season on the fringes so I can see where the smoke would come from. We are quickly getting to a point where we have a settled first choice midfield that is young enough to push out eager you eager young players that aren’t given a go.

It will be a reality soon, perhaps not with Sparrow for 2022 but it is coming.

After the Geelong win a few weeks back, I thought it was quiet telling that when they interviewed Christian Oliver after the game. Anyways, he said along the lines that to be able to perform at the level its guys like Tom Sparrow who comes in a plays a sacrificial role which allows him to get off the leash.

Thought it was a huge compliment from one of the best midfielders in the game regarding Sparrow.

We need to keep Sparrow. Is going to have a great career and can see him playing a permanent midfield role at the Dees.

I wouldn’t even entertain trading him. Not even for a top 5 pick, a Cerra or Neale! Extend his contract again now please! ASAP

I think Sparrow has a promising career in front of him, but seriously any list manager, including Taylor would jump at getting pick 5 for a player like Sparrow or a trade for Neale or Cerra.

Midfielders are a dime a dozen,...

All this Cerra is such a good distraction but also very exciting.

Imagine a midfield of Gawn/Jackson alongside Petracca, Oliver, Cerra, Viney, Langdon, Harmes, Brayshaw with Jordon and Sparrow amongst it all as well.

Would surely be the best midfield combination in the league next year if it isn't already?

Are you trying to clone Trac and Clarry? Nice idea.

can't see how we can go close to affording what he's worth in salary cap space nor satisfying freo in terms of trade collateral

certainly wouldn't want to lose the likes of jackson or rivers to bring him to the demons

Reckon we don't need Cerra. Our blokes of recent recruitments will have another year of experience and opportunity ahead of them but also to our continuing advantage, a damn-fine preparation to fortify a great 'team' season and what they brought with them, this year.

I wonder what objective reasons the FD think we DO need Cerra?

I think that currently we are an effective team, but not an efficient one; another midfielder with polished disposal would be welcome.

Here's a trade hypothetical for those who think we dont have currency.

Trade 1:

Melb give p42 and p52 (p30 in points) to Coll for p34. Win/win coll need points.

3 way trade with Freo and Brisbane:

Melb Give: p33 & p34 (p16 in points), 2022 first round.

Melb receive: Cerra & 47 (brisbane)

Brisbane give: neale & 47

Brisbane recieve: p33 (melb), p27 (freo) & melb 22 first.

Which values neale around pick 3

Freo give: cerra & 27

Freo recieve: Neale & 34 (melb)

Which values cerra at 5.

Most complete I'd think, but despite not having a genuine ruckman, Bulldogs is still deeper for mine. Essendon wouldn't be far away either.

I'd very surprised if Luke doesn't bite the bullet this off season and go after a ruckman with more left in him than Stef Martin.

The FD clearly wants more midfield class. Cerra is a different player than Harmes, Viney and even Brayshaw. His ball use would work nicely in tandem with Oliver, Viney, Harmes, Petracca etc.

I'd say it's also about building our young core (Jackson, Jordon, Sparrow, Spargo, Kozzy) to complement our mid career core (Oliver, Petracca, Harmes, Lever, Langdon, Brayshaw, Salem, ANB).

Unfortunately for their sake I don't think there are many good quality ruckman at years end who are uncontracted and available at their door step.

I see what you are doing but trade value doesnt really amount to anything. Brisbane end up with a late first (22) and 2 2nd rounders for Neale...not a chance.

What would they expect for Neale? He's 29 next May and had injury troubles this season. He's under contract for 2 more years apparently which makes things difficult but they couldn't expect too much for him considering he's coming into the tail end of his career.

Not sure how much more they will get, he is 29 and been on the decline this year. If it means they can clear his salary, pick up a first and two seconds and take Parker with the cap space I feel they pull the trigger.

As long as we make 2 selections in a 4 year period we are good. We made 2 last year and 2 in 2019.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
